The Product Development Manager oversees the Product Development process and growth of current and future quality beauty care products that meet brand strategy and product launches within Marketing Calendar timeframes. Leads and supports New Product Development (NPD) through Stage-Gate process and all pre and post evaluations. Provides technical support to existing products as needed.Specific Responsibilities & Duties:

Provides a safe working environment and ensures all.Promotes a safe working environment and adheres to Environmental Health and Safety procedures.Acts as the front-end contact with the client and ensures a proper follow up on any requests for new products.Plans, manages, and completes technical programs necessary to design, develop and optimize new and improved formulations, products, delivery systems for products that meet customer needs and are robust and reproducible.Works with R&D, Marketing, Sales, and other departments facing functions, such as Marketing, Consumer Insights and Sales.Acts as a leader and role model in fostering a test-and-learn environment that improves Research & Development (R&D) influence and effectiveness.Links formulation and/or product science and technology opportunities to the needs of the business through development and transfer of new products from Idea to Commercialization, transfers technologies from bench to pilot to manufacturing scale and successfully implements proprietary and differentiated technical solutions.Manages complex business relationships with ingredient, form or process technology partner companies, contract developers and manufacturers, consultants, vendors, cross-functional departments, and outside experts to ensure customer needs and projects are executed in an efficient and effective manner.Collects, analyzes, interprets, draws conclusions, and makes recommendations from data to enable technical execution of projects.Modifies methodologies to improve the quality, accuracy, and usefulness of data.Provides technical recommendations through clear and concise oral and written communications.Manages external resources such as consultants, co-manufacturers, and co-developers.Develops, documents, and transfers critical ingredient, product, process and analytical parameters, specifications to Supply Chain and Quality Assurance to ensure consumer focused and robust design of new products, processes, and characterizing methods.Ensures proper documentation for all technical and project work is completed.Develops and reviews intellectual property strategy and conducts patent searches, literature reviews and is current with cross industry technology insights.Understands application, benefits, and costs to Company product portfolio.Ensures competitive advantage through implementation of proprietary and differentiated technical solutions.Demonstrates ability to execute complex, multi-disciplinary technical projects. Shares and transfers knowledge and influences colleagues in other disciplines.Provides input on budget allocation and project prioritization.Identifies new product trends and product portfolio opportunities. Identifies innovation, new trends and formulary/ raw ingredient suppliers.Initiates new product proposals through the development, execution, and cross-functional team distribution.Briefs all cross-functional team members on product profiles, timelines, and launch plans to drive successful development and timely launch.Works closely with Engineering to check feasibility, tooling.Evaluates new formula submissions, provides feedback, and re-directs.Follows up with client on clinical and external product testing; ensures timetables are met for stability, compatibility, RIPT, no-tear, etc., and OTC to ensure on-time product launch.Works with R&D and Laboratories to follow up on pilots. Works with R&D to provide clients technical product info for Marketing literature and packaging copy.Follows up on getting artwork from client, fill weight claim and confirms with QA Department.Works closely with Regulatory to ensure compliance of product packaging, product claims and formulas.Responsible to provide client with the pricing on new project or existing items that need to be updated.Other duties may be assigned by Business Development Vice President and/or Executing Management.Physical Requirements:

Capable of lifting up to 25 lbs.Capable of standing, walking, and sitting for extended periods.Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, power tools, and to handle other computer components.Occasionally walking between buildings.Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.Minimum 5+ years’ Product Development experience in Consumer Products; preferably in cosmetics process manufacturing or an FDA regulated industry.Minimum 2-3+ years’ Product Development Management experience in Consumer Products; preferably in cosmetics process manufacturing or an FDA regulated industry.Training or Certifications in Project Management.Breadth of technical knowledge and experience in application in Over the Counter (OTC) Consumer Packaged Goods.Extensive experience in CPG environment. Demonstrated proficiency in NPD and Stage-Gate Process from Idea through commercialization.Experience in budget management, project prioritization and resource allocation.Knowledge and application of design thinking, design of experiments and relevant statistical tools in product development.Strong technical activity management in a stage-gate system is required.Proven ability to deliver programs on time and within budget.Product lifecycle management (PLM) system knowledge is preferred.Experience in technical projects and project, program, platform leadership in an R&D environment.Required Advanced reporting, designing and data analytic skills.Required Advanced knowledge in QAD or other comparable ERP/MRP systems.Demonstration of continual education. Attends seminars or reads training materials for continuing education and shows initiative in learning industry trends.Ability to lead, think strategically, set, and achieve objectives, and influence organizational change. Strong time-management, organizational, planning people and leadership skills.Constantly work to improve processes and consistently reviews all existing procedures for possible change, maintains and expands technical knowledge. Makes suggestions for improvements.Strong English communications skills: speaking, reading, and writing.
