Under the direction of Chief Program Officer, the Director of Nutrition Services works with branch staff and program participants to create a positive and productive environment where all participants learn, grow, and thrive. The incumbent is responsible for providing leadership as the primary source of nutritional information to YMCA members and staff as related to wellness, disease prevention and control, and athletic performance enhancement. The Director of Nutrition Services focuses on a person-centered hands-on approach to ensure each participant is treated individually with success as the goal.EDUCATIONRegistered Dietitian (R.D.) credentialed by the Commission on Dietetic Registration and Licensed Dietitian (L.D.) in the state of Texas required.Bachelor or Master degree in a related field or equivalent work experience is required.Three or more years related experience preferred, as a Registered Dietitian. One to three years experience working with insurance partners to bill for services.EXPERIENCE & BACKGROUNDHigh energy, positive, “can-do” attitude, flexibility, teamwork, attention to detail, and high degree of initiative will help this candidate be successful.Strong interpersonal skills, effective written and verbal communication skills, and team-oriented.The ability to maintain a calm and patient demeanor under pressure is required.Ability to present a positive image to staff, participants, colleagues, supervisors, and the community.Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.Organization and time management skills necessary to meet deadlines.Bilingual English/Spanish would be a plus.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Leads and directs program and activity sessions in accordance with the standards established by the YMCA of Metro Fort Worth.Provide a high level of nutrition education to YMCA members, guests, and the community through avenues including but not limited to: one-on-one nutrition counseling, group/family counseling, lunch and learns, workshops, seminars, and programs.Develop nutrition education and programming that will enhance the wellness of YMCA members, guests, and the community.Perform individual nutritional consultations as requested.Responsible for reviewing participant’s diet analysis reports as needed based on program protocols.Responsible for determining program goals and establishing weekly changes to the nutritional content and/or nutritional behaviors of program participants.Provide encouragement, positive feedback, and change strategies to accomplish nutritional changes in behavior.Maintain confidentiality on all participant records, data, and reports.Maintain appropriate medical documentation and complete medical billing for Medical Nutrition Therapy provided.Build relationships with and between members, volunteers, staff, and the communities we serve.Reach outside of the YMCA walls to develop relationships with community partners, doctors' offices, and health systems.Play an active role in community events promoting nutrition services.Attend all department meetings and any other training that may be deemed necessary.Demonstrate the ability to apply knowledge to audiences of various social, cultural, and economic backgrounds.Integrate principles of leadership in every teaching/learning situation and adjust instruction to various age groups.Travel between the branches of the YMCA of Metropolitan Fort Worth and/or community locations.Complete other duties as assigned by supervisor or Branch administration.COMPENSATION & BENEFITSThe YMCA of Metropolitan Fort Worth offers a competitive salary and benefits package for selected candidates. The yearly salary range for this position is $52,000 - $60,000 and will be commensurate with the selected candidate's experience.
