Your Role: Retail Dispensary ManagerAs our Retail Dispensary Manager, you will be the heartbeat of our retail operations. You'll lead a passionate team, drive customer satisfaction, and ensure the financial success of our dispensary. You will manage daily operations, including inventory and delivery management, while working to create a seamless and positive customer experience. This position focuses primarily on retail sales, forming one half of the dynamic duo that is our overall operation.

What You’ll Do:

Create Exceptional Experiences:

Lead by example to ensure the entire staff delivers outstanding customer service, providing training and mentorship to ensure every customer is greeted with warmth and receives knowledgeable, professional assistance.

Oversee the team's communication with customers, including phone consultations, in-store service, and deliveries, ensuring consistency, respect, and professionalism.

Ensure all staff members are well-educated on products, brand stories, cannabinoid and terpene properties, consumption methods, and dosing recommendations to provide customers with accurate and helpful information.

Monitor and collect customer feedback, using insights to continuously improve team performance and the overall customer experience.

Uphold the highest standard of service, making sure each guest receives the full attention of staff during their visit, from check-in to departure.

Lead and Inspire:

Recruit, train, and mentor a high-performing team.

Foster a positive and inclusive workplace where everyone feels valued.

Lead the team’s hiring process, professional development, labor distribution, communication with staff, scheduling, performance reviews, and ensure personal responsibility for all employees in the facility.

Conduct regular performance reviews, track staff development, and improve staff performance and satisfaction.

Drive Operations:

Oversee daily operations, including front and back-office functions and technical teams, to ensure smooth day-to-day activities.

Develop and implement process improvements to enhance productivity and efficiency.

Manage inventory and delivery, ensuring stock accuracy in METRC and collaborating with the Purchasing Specialist for vendor negotiations and supply chain logistics.

Monitor store profitability and financial health by preparing daily, weekly, and monthly sales reports, reviewing operational reports, and ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.

Report to accounting on finance-related activities weekly, such as sales logs, petty cash, and credit card receipts.

Strategize and Grow:

Monitor and review inventory levels and operational performance, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and company policies.

Analyze data, sales, and operational metrics to guide decision-making, improve revenue, profitability, and overall team performance.

Develop strategic plans for operational improvements, quality control measures, and achieve company goals by collaborating across departments.

Identify opportunities for growth and efficiency, and drive improvement strategies that impact revenue, customer satisfaction, and overall operational excellence.

Engage the Community:

Collaborate on marketing campaigns and promotional activities.

Build and maintain strong relationships with community partners.

Represent Sessions by the Bay at local events and initiatives.

Other Duties:

Take directives on new tasks, company policy changes, and other duties as assigned by Executive Managers.

Be available to participate in community programs, events, workshops, and initiatives.

What We’re Looking For:

Passion and Knowledge:

A deep understanding of cannabis products and industry trends.

A commitment to staying informed and educated.

Leadership and Communication:

Proven experience in retail management, preferably in cannabis.

Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.

Exceptional customer service abilities.

Technical Proficiency:

Experience with POS systems and relevant software.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office, OneDrive, SharePoint, and Teams.

Organizational Skills:

Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.

Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Management, or a related field preferred. If no Bachelor's degree, you'll need to have incredible proven experience.

Minimum of 5 years of experience in retail management, bonus points with experience in the cannabis industry, hospitality, or closely related field.

Proven track record of successfully managing retail operations, inventory management, and staff supervision in a fast-paced environment.

Strong knowledge of cannabis products, compliance regulations, and the industry as a whole.

Leadership & Communication:

Demonstrated experience in leading, training, and mentoring teams with a focus on building a positive, performance-driven culture.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to motivate and lead a team as well as communicate clearly with stakeholders.

Proven ability to handle high-pressure situations and make sound decisions in fast-moving environments.

Technical Proficiency:

Proficient in using retail POS systems (experience with METRC is highly preferred).

Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and cloud-based tools (OneDrive, SharePoint, Teams).

Ability to analyze data and sales metrics to drive decision-making and improve operational efficiency.

Operational Expertise:

Comprehensive understanding of cannabis industry regulations, compliance requirements, and best practices, including inventory management, seed-to-sale tracking, and METRC documentation.

Strong project management skills with the ability to oversee complex operational tasks, including supply chain logistics, vendor negotiations, and financial reporting.

Personal Characteristics:

Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

A strategic thinker who can translate data insights into actionable plans for revenue growth, operational improvement, and team development.

Adaptable, forward-thinking, and always looking for ways to innovate and improve processes.

Physical Requirements:

Must be 21 years of age or older (State Cannabis Law Requirement).

Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed to meet business demands.

Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds safely and stand/walk for up to 6 hours at a time.
