GENERAL FUNCTIONThe FGX Import Transportation Manager oversees and is responsible for the movement of shipments for FGX through the Essilor Luxottica global supply chain. The Manager will be a single point interface with internal/corporate (planning, sourcing, supply chain) employees, freight carriers, and customers to ensure on-time inbound shipments for all FGX NA. In this role, he/she will ensure team members communicate effectively with vendors, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and transportation carriers to ensure efficient movement of goods across borders.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The ability to multi-task and handle various daily transportation issues at FGX and deliver clear, concise, and sound recommendations.

Manage FGX inbound transportation from a global network of suppliers to our North America distribution network.

Monitors and reports on KPI’s that measure the performance of the FGX NA inbound transportation network.

Track and maintain reporting of in-transit freight on a daily/weekly basis.

Act as a single point interface developing and improving transportation methods for FGX NA to improve efficiency and effectiveness, continue to meet the delivery requirements of the customer.

Oversee and be responsible for understanding all performance and claims for all freight vendors used by FGX.

Work with the transportation director to build, manage, and perform against the freight budget.

Help manage and coordinate Ocean and Air freight RFP for FGX on a yearly basis with support from the global sourcing team and transportation director.

Maintain and continue to build strong partnerships and relationships with all key transportation suppliers within the FGX supply chain.

Work with the import/export compliance manager on a daily basis to ensure full compliance on import/export transactions for all FGX NA entities.

Interface with customs brokers, suppliers, and service providers to ensure consistency with defined import/export processes on a daily basis.

Work with the transportation director to track yearly cost reduction initiatives and support updating budget project tracker on a monthly basis.

Support and work with the import/export compliance manager to ensure all facets of the Duty Drawback program are maintained.

Manage and oversee all daily FGX Ocean and air freight bookings to ensure team members are responding timely and accurately.

Support Supply planning team on key execution project decisions (Mode of transport, manufacturing dates, destination, carrier using, etc).

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s Degree

Minimum of 2 years of international logistics experience

Direct experience with import/export shipping in North America

Proficient in MS Office suite of software

Good interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)

Excellent time management, decision making, planning, and organizational skills

Strong attention to detail

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience in SAP environment

Experience with import/export of medical devices and FDA regulations
