Job Description Summary

MUSC Health is seeking an Executive Director of Ambulatory Services supporting outpatient Oncology services. The Executive Director will be accountable for providing strategic and operational leadership for the NCI-designated Hollings Cancer Center clinics, including infusion and radiation therapy. MUSC Hollings Cancer Center is one of 72 National Cancer Institute-designated cancer centers in the nation and the only one in South Carolina.

This position reports to the Chief Ambulatory Officer and will work in close partnership with physician leadership for the Cancer Center. The Executive Director will oversee operations in five clinics, along with a Director and several managers. Additionally, the incumbent will be responsible for achieving quality outcomes, patient satisfaction, personnel management, operating budgets, financial management, compliance, provider satisfaction, employee engagement, and performance improvement.

The Executive Director not only represents areas under their direct responsibility but also provides leadership around organization-wide initiatives to improve patient care, clinical effectiveness, and patient access and to optimize patient experience and quality.

Minimum Training and Education

Master's degree in healthcare related field such as Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or MBA is required. Seven (7) years of management work experience in ambulatory care leadership role or appropriate clinical area; demonstrated ability to work effectively with physician leaders; talent in the selection and mentoring of high quality, effective teams; proven ability to lead change, organize teams, and delegate responsibility appropriately; proven ability to use data to drive performance improvement; strong written and verbal communication skills.

Additional Details

The preferred candidate will have a nursing background and strong oncology operations leadership experience, preferably in an NCI-designated cancer center. This position requires knowledge of oncology regulatory and accreditation compliance experience, along with Joint Commission and Magnet.

Physical Requirements

Ability to perform job functions while standing, sitting, and walking. Ability to climb stairs, work indoors, and outdoors in temperature extremes. Ability to perform various physical tasks such as lifting, bending, and reaching. Ability to maintain sensory functions such as vision and hearing. Ability to work rotating shifts and overtime as required.
