group supporting the Permian Basin based in

Houston, TX.Essential Functions:Demonstrate a strong knowledge and application of all Petroleum Land Management (PLM) and negotiation principles, theories, and concepts within the discipline.Frequent interaction with counterparts at peer companies, private entities, and mineral/land owners.Negotiate, analyze, prepare, and/or review agreements including oil and gas leases, farmouts, term assignments, and operating agreements required for the drilling, development, and production of wells.Obtain and/or evaluate land data (i.e., ownership reports, abstracts, title opinions, and company lease records) to determine availability of oil and gas rights for the acquisition, development, and/or divestiture.Coordinate the activity of field landmen when needed.Obtain the necessary title examination, title curative, and issue final title approval and release of wells for drilling.Have a working understanding of how Land interacts, advises, and collaborates with Business Development, Engineering, Geoscience, Accounting, Legal, Regulatory, and Marketing, with a strong grasp of industry financial drivers.Provide active input and participate in the decision-making process of various projects.Attend company and industry meetings; represent Oxy for Working Interest Owner matters.Occasional business travel to Midland from Houston, for in-person internal/external meetings, and building business relationships.Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Land Management, Energy Management, Business or a related field.A minimum of 10 years in-house, broad-based working experience in traditional operations landman/land negotiator roles, or other relevant experience.Experience working in an active drilling rig line, managing brokers, working with title attorneys in rendering title opinions, and clearing title curative requirements.Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, and reach closure within established timeframes.Good verbal/written communication, organization and time management skills.Excellent business skills and strong ethics.Strong negotiation skills as well as experience recognizing, analyzing, and resolving difficult negotiating situations.Outstanding team player with strong interpersonal skills to effectively work within a multi-disciplinary group to achieve project related goals.Knowledge of applicable county, state and federal regulatory rules and procedures.Strong ability to work effectively and coordinate activities with other groups in field operations offices, and with other Land Negotiators.Strong PC skills, including MS Office Suite, Quorum Land System (or equivalent Land Database), and ArcGIS.Familiarity with common third-party Land applications, including Enverus and public sources.Good problem-solving skills and established drive for results.Additional Desired Qualifications:Association of Professional Landmen (AAPL) and/or local Landman Association memberships, as well as having CPL status.
