Moffatt & Nichol specializes in large complex waterfront infrastructure projects and is recognized as one of the worldwide leaders in this field. We are actively seeking an Engineer with commercial diving and bridge inspection Team Leader certification and experience to perform structural inspections both above and below water. The successful new hire will be seated in our Baton Rouge (preferred) or New Orleans, LA office. You will be working with a professional engineering dive/bridge inspection team that provides consulting services to clients primarily in the gulf region. Assisting our overall Inspection & Rehabilitation (I&R) team will require occasional travel both domestically and internationally. The principal function of this position is to be part of a team that evaluates marine and bridge structures through above and below water engineering inspections, follow-on report preparation and development of structural repair designs.You will utilize Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and National Highway Institute (NHI) criteria while inspecting bridges via buckets, snoopers, boats, ladders, safety harness, and other equipment. If interested, you will be offered training to join our rope access (SPRAT) bridge inspection team. When not delivering inspections, you will help review reports, perform quality control reviews, assist with submittals, etc.Duties and responsibilities:Performs site investigations of marine structures, bridges, and other infrastructure assetsEnsures that the scope of work is fulfilled as directed and that the contracted deliverable is submitted out on schedule and as budgetedData entry/manipulation and technical writing skills for the preparation and review of inspection reports, proposals, etc.Analyzes deteriorated components of marine and bridge structures to assess load capacityPrepares plans, specifications, cost estimates and supporting documentationProvides quality assurance reviews of inspection reportsWorks collaboratively with all members of the inspection team and of other engineering disciplinesAssists with civil and structural designPerforms other duties as requiredQualifications:Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an accredited universityEngineer in Training (EIT) requiredCertified Commercial Diver - ADCI, HSE, DCBC, IMCA or ADASUnderwater Bridge Inspection, FHWA-NHI-130091 requiredNHI/NBIS Team Leader, FHWA-NHI-130055 certification required1 to 5 years of related diving and inspection experience and a minimum of 2 years of related bridge inspection experienceValid driver's license in good standingAvailability and willingness to travel as required. Most work is local/regional and employee is able to return home most evenings.
