https://chicago.taleo.net/careersection/103/jobsearch.ftl?lang=enCheck the box on your profile titled "Currently employed by the City of Chicago"Enter your employee ID (located on your pay stub labeled 'payee/employee number')Select your correct bargaining unitFAILURE TO FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS WILL RESULT IN A REJECTED BID APPLICATIONUnder supervision, supervise crews of skilled trades and laborer personnel engaged in the construction, maintenance, and repair of the City's water mains and distribution system in an assigned district, and performs related duties as required.ESSENTIAL DUTIESSupervise crews of skilled trades and laborer personnel engaged in the construction, maintenance, and repair of the City's water mains and distribution system in an assigned district.Supervise work crews of skilled trades and laborer personnel for new construction water main projects; review work plans with resident engineer to assess scope of project and to plan and schedule work operations.Supervise work crews of skilled labor and laborer personnel responding to water main breaks or leaks in the parkway and performing duties for the repair of water mains and related structures.Direct and monitor the work of plumbers, motor truck drivers, hoisting engineers and laborers, ensuring compliance with quality standards.Ensure that work site and crew is equipped with required safety equipment and that required safety barricades and notices are appropriately set-up at work site.Monitor work in progress to ensure compliance with operating procedures and safety standards.Prepare work sites, ensuring area residents are notified of water shut-downs and that required permits are obtained.Review daily manpower reports and ensure crews are properly staffed; coordinate the delivery of required equipment and materials.Prepare and sign off on various reports relating to work operations.Monitor work performance, respond to performance issues and initiate disciplinary actions as required.Additional duties may be required for this position.Location:

VariousTHIS POSITION IS IN THE CAREER SERVICE.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSFour years general construction or skilled trades work experience in performing duties relating to water main OR sewer pipeline repair, maintenance or new construction/installation work. A valid plumber's license issued by either the State of Illinois or the City of Chicago is required.Licensure, Certification or Other QualificationsA valid plumber's license issued by either the State of Illinois or the City of Chicago is required.A valid State of Illinois driver's license is required.Must have the permanent use of an automobile that is properly insured including a clause specifically insuring the City of Chicago from accident liability.NOTE:

You must provide your transcripts or diploma, professional license, or training certificates at time of processing, if applicable.SELECTION REQUIREMENTSThis position requires applicants to successfully pass skills assessment tests and complete an interview. Test results will be sent out by the Department of Human Resources after the test results have been analyzed and compiled. Candidates that receive a passing score on the skills assessment test will be invited to interview for the position.Preference will be given to external candidates possessing the following:At least 2 years of supervisory experience related to the responsibilities of the job.At least 8 years of experience working on a water main.APPLICATION EVALUATION:
