We are in search of a Project Manager/Estimator with Business Development skills to produce and assemble bids for Electric Vehicle Charging Installations and other projects, and then manage those projects to ensure successful implementation of Baker Electric’s values and objectives. This role is a dynamic part of our Special Projects Group and will require a key individual who is fluent in preliminary design, laying out projects, building estimates, constructing projects, and fostering positive relationships with both clients and internal teams.We are looking for an energetic and dedicated team member who can take full ownership of a large portfolio of work for a client. This role will include significant client face-to-face time, engineering/layout, leading a dedicated team, and responsibility for one of the most exciting endeavors at the company.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Walk sites and efficiently layout electrical infrastructure including new utility services, electrical distribution equipment, and end devices such as electric vehicle chargers. Understand impacts of terrain, site conditions, engineering constraints, and client needs to develop accurate site plans.Analyze drawings, specifications, site conditions, and other documentation or situations to perform take-offs and review quantities in order to compute accurate project costs which will be utilized to formulate estimates using best practices, labor factoring, and strategic material purchases.Participate in meetings to review estimates and proposals submitted to public and/or private entities in the pursuit of securing revenue for the group.Receive bid invitations from the Business Development Team; verify the number of competitors; review bid documents and generate RFIs to expose details that may reduce the number of potential bidders.Take lead or assist in selecting and obtaining prices from vendors and subcontractors for preparing an accurate bid estimate and proposal.Prepare and participate in the job hand-off, planning, and job kick-off process to keep all team members informed of what was contemplated in the estimate prior to commencement of the work.Project Management:Oversee the completion of construction in accordance with the Contract Documents and prevailing building codes.Review all contracts received to verify cost, scope, and risk, ensuring qualifications and exclusions are acceptable prior to execution of subcontract agreements.Ensure all project-associated Baker Electric employees follow and understand Baker Electric’s interpretation of the project’s specifications and contract documents.Maintain complete financial responsibility for the project ensuring labor, material, equipment, and subcontract budgets are achieved.Produce a complete and accurate material buyout for Gear, Lighting, and Special Equipment based on a verified equipment/material list.Manage the submittal and delivery process ensuring project milestones are achieved.Manage the monthly billing process to the client and subcontractors or vendors.Prepare accurate change request estimates as necessary and negotiate the best possible pricing for Baker Electric.Maintain and ensure accuracy of all logs and project-associated tracking tools.Participate in final contract negotiations and facilitate closing deals when required.Create milestone schedules and cost breakdowns including crew rates and size.Monitor job progress, preparing cost to complete estimates, and man-hour to complete estimates on a monthly basis for financial reporting.Review and qualify all field-generated RFIs and requests prior to submittal to the General contractor or Owner.Enforce company policy and procedures regarding professional standards, safety, and ethics.Act as the Prime Contractor and main point of contact for subs, clients, end users, internal teams, and other project stakeholders.Business Development:Maintain extensive knowledge and assist in documenting key client personnel for a targeted customer base.Establish a target list of customers; ensure that their needs are identified and satisfied.Build key customer relationships to maintain a good position in the business market.First 30: Become familiar with the estimating and project management processes utilized within the group.First 60: Contribute to preparing accurate bid estimates and proposals while collaborating with the team.First 90: Develop a business plan for success and participate in revenue projections.EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION:3 – 5 years of experience in project management, estimating, and/or engineering within the electrical industry.1 - 3 years of experience in business development or sales is a plus.Successful graduation or completion of electrical-based training or education: I.B.E.W. Journeyman; CA Electrical JW License; Engineer in Training; Professional Engineer.Experience with electrical maintenance, repair, power conversion, medium voltage, or similar related projects in the $500 - $5mm range is a plus.Proficiency in MS Office: Excel, Word, Outlook, Bluebeam, Procore, MS Project, or other related Construction Management software.High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required; Bachelor’s Degree in a related field is a plus.PAY TRANSPARENCY:The starting salary for this opportunity range is listed.
