UIC has over 300,000 alumni, and is one of the largest employers in the city of Chicago.Description:Position SummaryThe Visiting Biostatistician will work under the guidance of the NBR-ILLINet team of senior biostatisticians and investigators at UIC and will provide statistical support on analysis, interpretation and implementation to support the NBR-ILLInet activities. The foremost goal is to advance the scientific priorities of the RECOVER consortium and collaborate on the manuscript writing committee.Duties & ResponsibilitiesCollaborate with team members to formalize statistical analyses and provide interpretation and documentation of observational cohort data.Participate in forums for discussing, developing, and disseminating best practices for the analysis of data from the RECOVER cohorts, including developing SOPs for principal definitions and distributing open-source code and training materials.Perform relevant biostatistical analysis, under guidance from NBR ILLInet team and RECOVER DRC, for research questions and manuscript preparations.Clean, organize, and perform quality control of data in preparation for analyses; prepare and edit data summaries of data analyses.Attend project meetings with faculty, RECOVER investigators, research staff, and other relevant stakeholders.Serve on manuscript writing and research related committees such as the Protocol Review Committee (PRC) and/or Data Safety and Management Committee (DSMC).Develop, maintain and update the NBR ILLInet project and workflow database, including generating monthly summary reports.Manage and maintain records and resource utilization in accordance with sponsor requirements and university policies and procedures.Partner with investigator(s) to jointly achieve objectives and timeliness.Collaborate with investigator(s) to ensure that project/trial results and conclusions are presented accurately and without bias.Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.Qualifications:Minimum QualificationsMaster's Degree in Biostatistics, Statistics, or related field is required.Demonstrated proficiency in the statistical software R is required. Proficiency in Python, SAS, Stata, SPSS, or other relevant statistical programs is considered as additional positive qualification.Thorough knowledge of applied aspects of observational and clinical study design, data analysis, research data management and statistical program is preferred through a combination of academic training and work experience.Experience in data management, cleaning and interrogating of data, and determining missing data elements as appropriate.Demonstrated skills in time management and project management. Strong focus on quality and timely delivery of work; ability to multi-task and work on concurrent projects.Demonstrated interpersonal skills to develop and maintain effective professional work relationships with investigators. Ability to work well autonomously and in team environment with a wide range of varying stakeholders.Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing to a variety of audiences.Preferred QualificationsAnalysis skills, and experience in data analysis in some of the following areas are strongly desirable:

Longitudinal modelingMissing data methodsSurvival analysisMachine learning/high dimensional data analysis methodsCausal inference, Propensity scores, MatchingRelevant and recent experience in the analysis of quantitative research data within an academic environment is preferred.

Experience in research and the integration of statistics application in health and clinical settings is preferred.Application Process:
