We are GAF. And under this roof, we protect what matters most.This position reports to the Human Resources Business Partner and is a trusted strategic business partner to the Savannah Plant Manager. You must be an astute HR Business Partner, with extensive experience in the management of employee relations, administration of employee programs, change management, employee engagement strategy, leadership development, organizational design, performance management, HR laws and regulations, labor relations, and HR policy management. You’re a dynamic leader who always acts with integrity and discretion to ensure your role as a trusted advisor. The HR Business Partner is responsible for oversight and implementation of human resource functions for all employee groups (salaried, salaried non-exempt, and hourly). Serves as a consultant to management on all labor relations issues; acts as an employee champion and change agent.Essential DutiesSpecific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Design and implement people solutions to address enterprise and functional strategies.Facilitate conflict resolution and provide coaching and feedback to employees, supervisors, and managers.Partner with the Workforce Planning Manager to manage the strategic workforce planning efforts at the plant ensuring the right roles are incorporated to shape the future.Partner with the plant management team to facilitate employee engagement, focus groups, and develop meaningful action plans for improvement.Manage all employee relations activities within the site according to established guidelines, sound administrative practices, and in accordance with the organization's mission, values, and goals.Maintain current knowledge of and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor and employment laws.Strategically contribute to the business objectives by helping plant leaders identify, prioritize, and build organizational capabilities, behaviors, structures, and processes.Provide expert advice and coaching where appropriate. Ensure that strong leadership and coaching culture permeates the organization.Assist the business leader to provide employees with development opportunities and ensure current and future performance standards are met. Champion the Talent Management Process. Support managers in forecasting and planning their talent pipeline requirements in line with the business objectives.Actively engage with both hourly employees and support staff out on the machine line.Complete daily walk-throughs to stay informed on business challenges/opportunities.Act as a key HR Business Partner supporting plant departments on all aspects of human resources, including organizational and employee development.Research and develop/recommend solutions and process improvements on HR-related projects, processes, and policies aligned to GAF strategy, culture, and business practices.Partner with the recruitment team to facilitate/coordinate hourly and salaried interviews, conduct onboarding, and new hire orientation.Conduct investigations and make recommendations regarding disciplinary actions and/or employee terminations. Partner with Employee Relations COE on appropriate ER issues and inform members of plant leadership as necessary.Support Environmental, Health, and Safety requirements as needed, to include case management of work-related injuries.Manage specific projects as determined in the annual HR plan and participate in functional and cross-functional initiatives. Participate in HR project teams and programs and coordinate community involvement as needed.Under This Roof, We RequireBachelor's degree in human resources, business, or related field.5+ years of demonstrated HR/employee relations experience in a manufacturing environment.5+ years of strategic union labor relations experience (grievance coordination & participation, contract interpretation, guidance and administration, etc).Possess demonstrated problem-solving abilities along with strong time management & prioritization skills.Possess advanced communication skills that can be utilized in day-to-day interactions with all levels of the workforce.Experience managing conflict, project management & completion, and the ability to maintain confidentiality.25% minimum travel required.Physical DemandsAbility to walk the plant floor regularly.Ability to climb stairs and ladders.Under This Roof, We Also ValueMaster’s degree in Human Resources.SPHR or PHR certification or SHRM equivalence.Proficiency in Google Suite.
