Job Title: Senior Database AdministratorLocation: RemoteDuration: 24+ MonthsTargeted Years of Experience: 5-7 years
Responsibilities:• Establish the needs of users and monitor user access and security• Monitor performance and manage parameters in order to provide fast responses to front-end users (optimization).• Map out the conceptual design for a planned database• Consider both back-end organization of data and front-end accessibility for end-users• Refine the logical design so that it can be translated into a specific data model• Further refine the physical design to meet system storage requirements• Install and test new versions of the database management system• Write database documentation, including data standards, procedures and definitions for the data dictionary (metadata)• Control access permissions and privileges• Develop, manage and test back-up and recovery plans• Ensure that storage and archiving procedures are functioning correctly and carry out capacity planning• Communicate regularly with technical, applications and operational staff to ensure database integrity and security• Commission and install new applications and customize existing applications in order to make them fit for purpose• Be available for on-call support as needed• Create and manage database reports, visualizations, and dashboards• Create automation for repeating database tasks• Maintain database with new/missing control data
MUST HAVE SKILLS (Most Important):Advanced knowledge of database configuration, security, backup and recovery, and performance monitoring standardsUnderstanding of relational and dimensional data modelingExperience with MySQL & Oracle database administrationStrong command of SQL and SQL server toolsPowerShell and Unix shell scripting skillsSystem administration skills (Linux)Excellent written and verbal communication skillsImpeccable attention to detail
DESIRED SKILLS:Experience with UNIX/Linux Shell scripting and debugging, including CRON managementExperience with XML/HTML (Ease, etc)Excellent problem-solving, technical and analytical skill and experience collecting and providing feedback to drive process improvements.Experience with Linux system administrationFamiliarity with SSAS, SSIS, SSRS
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS:You'll need to have:Bachelors' degree or four or more years of work experience
