Description
This position provides public safety work by guiding school children across roadways, intersections, and cross walks. Work involves directing and stopping traffic to allow school children to cross roadways safely. Duties include supervising school children along roadways to ensure order and safety. Work is performed with independent judgment within established general orders. Performance is reviewed for compliance with desired objectives and through observation of work activities.Examples of Duties
The most important and essential job function is dependability and includes the following: regular attendance, working as a team member, functioning under intense time pressure, and the ability to work day, afternoon, night and rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays, at any St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office location, according to agency needs.
Serves the public and fellow employees with professionalism, integrity, respect, and fairness in full accord.
Stops the flow of traffic at designated crosswalks; guides school children across roadways and through traffic intersections.
Supervises school children gathered at roadside; maintains order; reports hazards and other problems to supervisor.Qualifications
Candidate must be a St. Lucie county resident.Should possess a high school diploma or equivalent.Must pass a comprehensive background/character investigation, medical examination, drug screening, and polygraph examination; fingerprinting will be required.Supplemental Information
