Registered Nurse-Wound Ostomy and Continence

Inova Mount Vernon Hospital seeks a Part Time Wound Ostomy and Continence Nurse Coordinator (WOCN). Part Time - Shifts/schedule could be anywhere between M-F, 8 am - 4 pm; 24 hours per week. The Wound Ostomy and Continence Nurse (WOCN) Coordinator uses an integrated approach toward patient outcomes and develops and monitors standards, guidelines, and pathways for care delivery. Fosters high standards of practice relating to the care, teaching and rehabilitation of persons having ostomies, fistulas, wounds and incontinence. Serves as a subject matter expert to peers, physicians and leaders on complex clinical issues in wound, ostomy, and continence care. Coordinates and provides direct patient care for individuals with complex wound, ostomy, and continence conditions. Provides education and training to patients, families, and nursing staff on wound care management, ostomy care, and continence care. Serves as a resource, preceptor and mentor for nursing staff, healthcare providers, and interdisciplinary teams. Requirements: Location: Inova Mount Vernon Hospital. Education: Bachelors Degree in Nursing. Experience: 3 years of experience providing wound/ostomy care and Wound Certification (CWS, CWOCN, CWCN, CWOCN, or COCN accepted) or 5 years RN experience providing wound/ostomy care. Preferred experience in clinical nursing education. Licensure/Certifications: RN license in the state of Virginia. CWS, CWOCN, CWCN, CWOCN, or COCN or 2 additional years RN experience providing wound/ostomy care in lieu of certification. BLS from the American Heart Association.
