ABOUT THE ROLE:The Release Manager role is responsible for assisting in planning, scheduling and coordinating the software release cycle to ensure successful delivery of software products. The role requires the ability to understand resource requirements, facilitate understanding of the software release process within the team and support version control implementation. The Release Manager uses strong communication and collaboration skills to connect with multiple teams and stakeholders to communicate about release management updates and identify risks and issues. The position works with development, QA, business, and operations teams and assists in suggesting performance improvement initiatives and conducting post-release analysis. The role also helps in coordinating rollbacks. By performing their work effectively, the incumbent can provide support in creating a seamless experience for end-users across IT functions and help the organization be more effective in delivering quality digital products and services.Responsibilities

WHAT THE ROLE WILL DO:

Understand resource requirements and timelines based on inputs gathered from development, testing, project management teams and other stakeholders to support release schedulesDraft standards and processes required to govern the release management processManage change logs to support the implementation of version control through the software development lifecyclePrepare detailed updates to inform all stakeholders about release schedules, changes, impacts and other information related to releasesIdentify risks and issues related to software releases on an ongoing basis and synthesize the team's insights to report findings to senior membersWrite documentation that outlines release information and records updates for future referenceShare detailed updates with other IT teams such as QA, operation and DevOps about release management policies and standardsSynthesize results from external and internal research to suggest process improvement initiatives or opportunities for senior team membersPerform preliminary post-release analysis of data points, such as performance metrics and user feedbackCreate draft plans to coordinate rollbacks while working with application and infrastructure stakeholders to help return applications to previous versionsDraft requirement documentation to ensure that the release process is compliant with regulatory requirements and standards such as ISO or ITILThis position is not eligible for sponsorship for work authorization now or in the future, including conversion to H1-B visa.

This position has a hybrid work schedule with three days in the office and the option for working remotely two days.

Job duties include contact with other employees and access confidential and proprietary information and/or other items of value, and such access may be supervised or unsupervised. Qualifications

Education

Required

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Technology, or in lieu of a degree, at least 3 years of experience in software development or software release management

Skills and Experience

2-4 years of experience in Release Management or similar roleExperience in release management and collaboration toolsExperience in assisting with planning and executing software releases in complex environmentsExperience with Agile methodologies, SDLC, and DevOps MethodologyFamiliarity with container technologyFamiliarity with scripting languagesStrong communication and collaboration skills to work with various teams and stakeholdersExperience in developing and executing repeatable build and deploy stepsGood organizational skills to manage multiple releasesGitHub, JiraTechnical Skills
