RN - Wound and Ostomy Care 28012Position Summary: Aids and educates hospital staff and physicians in the care of patients with ostomy's, wound care, draining wounds, surgical wounds, fistulae, incontinence, and potential or actual tissue trauma.Responsibilities: Plans, assesses, and promotes enterostomal patient education needs and care in accordance with hospital policies and by developing and updating programsFamiliar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and proceduresMay lead and direct the work of othersA wide degree of creativity and latitude is expectedPerforms other related duties as assignedFamiliar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goalsRegular and predictable attendance is an essential job functionCompetent to meet age specific needs of the unit assigned Requirements and Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree (BSN)Graduate of formal wound, ostomy and continence nursing program preferred At least one year of experience in medical/surgical nursing with nursing assessment skills and knowledge of bowel function and anatomy requiredState of Idaho Registered Nurse or licensure pending as documented by temporary licensure OR current RN licensure from a state participating in the "multistate privilege to practice" compact with IdahoBasic knowledge of ostomy, skin, and fistula careBLS Required. Current AHA Healthcare provider, American Red Cross, AHA Health Saver or KH BLS during General OrientationCurrent Wound Ostomy and Continence Certification (WOCN) preferred Working Conditions: Must be able to maintain a standing and/or sitting position Typical equipment used in a clinical jobFrequent stooping, bending, reaching, lifting and pushing heavy stretchers and other equipmentFrequent moving, transferring and positioning of patients with and/or without assistanceContinue your career with Kootenai Health!At Kootenai Health, you can continue learning, growing, and advancing.
