Position Responsibilities:System Configuration: Install, configure, and maintain Unix-based operating systems, including user accounts, security settings, and system updates. Ensure alignment with industry best practices and security guidelines.Proficiency with AWS-based systems, having deployed, maintained, and performed troubleshooting on servers and services based in AWS.Server Management: Manage Unix servers, including hardware and software maintenance, monitoring, and troubleshooting to ensure reliable performance and availability.Security and Compliance: Implement security measures such as access controls, firewalls, and encryption to safeguard Unix systems against unauthorized access, data breaches, and cyber threats.Patch Management: Monitor and apply security patches, updates, and system upgrades to maintain system integrity and protect against vulnerabilities.Performance Optimization: Analyze system performance and resource utilization: Fine-tune system parameters, memory, and CPU to ensure optimal performance of Unix-based servers.Backup and Recovery: Develop and execute backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and disaster recovery readiness. Test and validate backup processes regularly.User Support: Provide technical support to users and resolve issues related to Unix-based systems, including software installation, user access, and system configuration.Scripting and Automation: Develop and maintain scripts (e.g., shell scripts) for system administration tasks, process automation, and reporting.Server Monitoring: Set up monitoring tools to track system health, identify issues, and proactively address potential problems.Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams to integrate Unix systems with other infrastructure components, applications, and services.Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.Disaster Recovery Planning: Contribute to disaster recovery and business continuity planning efforts, ensuring Unix systems are resilient and can be quickly restored in case of disruptions.Professional Experience and Skills:
Profound knowledge of Linux/Unix operating systems and network protocols.Proven experience in system design, optimization, and advanced troubleshooting.Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to excel in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.Strong communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.Relevant certifications such as Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) or equivalent are a plus.
