UNIX ADMINISTRATOR
SUMMARY
We are seeking an experienced Unix Server Architect to join our team,responsible for the design, deployment, and maintenance of Unix serverinfrastructure and related storage systems. This role involves installing,configuring, and managing Unix servers, implementing security patches andupgrades, and developing comprehensive backup and disaster recovery plans. TheUnix Server Architect will serve as the primary administrator, work closelywith external auditors for IT compliance, and collaborate with key vendors andinternal teams, including DBA's and Oracle Analysts, to ensure optimal systemperformance and data integrity. Expertise in Unix architecture, technicaltroubleshooting, and a proactive approach to new technologies are essential forsuccess in this role.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following.Other duties may be assigned.Expert in Unix/Linux server architecture. Designs, builds, deploys and maintains Unix servers and related storage systemsInstalls, configures and supports all Unix/Linux servers, security patches, upgrades, etc. Serves as primary administratorResponsible for developing backup/recovery plans for Unix/Linux servers, ensuring daily backups, and restoration (including Disaster Recovery)Works with external auditors during annual IT audits of Unix/Linux and Oracle ERP systemsWorks with key vendors such as HP/Dell to keep abreast of new technologyWork closely with the DBA team and Oracle Analysts to ensure Oracle ERP system integrity and performanceAnalyze Unix/Linux systems changes and participate in technical troubleshootingMay require travel on a special needs basisParticipate in the Company's 24x7 support service commitmentMicrosoft Windows Server and Microsoft Systems Center experience preferredQUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree preferred, Computer Science or related field preferred. High School or GED required.3+ years of relevant Unix systems experience and 4+ years of related IT experienceStrong knowledge of Unix/LinuxStrong knowledge of security patch management, server monitoring, and Disaster Recovery practicesStrong knowledge of backup and recovery proceduresShould have a good knowledge of coding, using Perl, CGI, C and shell scriptingExcellent time, project management and organizational skillsExcellent personal skills to work with a variety of peopleFamiliar with project management techniques and processesAbility to work as team member and independently with minimal supervision
