We are seeking a Property Accounting Assistant Controller. Who will be responsible for.......
A PropertyAccounting Assistant Controller provides high-level support to Corporate Controllers as they manage a company's accounting and financial activities. Their duties include producing financial summary statements, forecasting a company's financial health, and correcting inaccuracies in its financial records.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Oversee and mentor current accounting staff, including hiring new staff as needed and providing ongoing training to ensure professional growth within the organization.Create and implement Accounting Standard Operating Procedures in collaboration with other department leaders.Oversee and perform onboarding/offboarding of property tasksReview current policies and processes for best practices and identify areas for improved efficiencies.Conduct staff annual performance reviews.Ensure monthly financial packages, replacement reserves, and construction draws are prepared in a timely and accurate manner in accordance with internal and external policies and procedures.Assist with client communications and requests as needed.Coordinate accounting responsibilities in the annual budgeting process and year-end client tax. Packages, 1099 process, tax and insurance payments, and other necessary tasks.Work with Corporate accounting to ensure timely payment of fees and reimbursement of expenses.Track and communicate progress on critical tasks and initiatives.Requirements
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
This role requires a CPAKnowledge of accounting principles, laws/regulations, and GAAP5+ years of Property / Real Estate accounting experienceAbility to manage multiple activities/projects concurrently and prioritize accordingly.Tech savvy - familiar with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe, Yardi, digital workload management, and comfortable learning new software programsAdvanced knowledge of MS Excel (XLOOKUPS, SUMIF, Pivot Tables, formulas, etc.)Communication skills to effectively work with clients and colleagues.Positive attitude and open to feedback necessary for continued growth and developmentAn analytical mind, comfortable with numbers and problem-solving.Intellectually curious, self-starter who is not afraid to seek out projects independently.Must have the ability to maintain the utmost level of confidentiality.Preferred but not required.
