Schell Brothers is looking for a

Junior Accountant

to join our team as we continue to grow in the residential construction industry.

The purpose of the Junior Accountant is to perform bookkeeping tasks and assist the Accounting Team with certain accounting and accounts payable functions across Schell Brothers entities. More specifically, under the direct supervision of the Controller, the Junior Accountant will record financial transactions in accordance with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), execute certain month-end close procedures, and perform financial reporting on an ad hoc basis.

The Junior Accountant must be responsive to requests from Schell management, teammates, customers, vendors, and other internal/external parties. The Junior Accountant will be primarily responsible for the following duties, and perform other duties as required.

Accounts Payable

For Schell Brothers homebuilding, responsible for reviewing Trade Partner agreements, following up with Trade Partners for missing documents/discrepancies, fielding inquiries from Trade Partners, and managing payment holds for Trade Partners.Assist with vendor onboarding, maintenance, and inquiries across all Schell Brothers entities.Processing of invoices for Georgetown Air Services and the Schell Brothers Foundation.Execution of the weekly check runs for Georgetown Air Services and the Schell Brothers Foundation.Assist with the processing of certain Schell Brothers homebuilding overhead invoices, such as Utilities.Assist with processing off cycle checks for Schell Brothers homebuilding in the construction management system, Kova.Prepare and mail all checks.Accounting

Responsible for logging checks received by any Schell Brothers entity and preparing them for deposit.Responsible for the day-to-day accounting operations of the Coffee House, along with the related month-end close activities, including: recording sales, accounts receivable, and cash receipts from Toast; reconciling the bank statement on a monthly basis; reviewing the general ledger detail on a monthly basis to flag any miscoded transactions; preparing & issuing the monthly financial reporting package; and meeting with key stakeholders to discuss.Responsible for recording and reconciling the daily revenue/cash for the Schellville holiday village from November through December.Responsible for the following activities related to Georgetown Air Services: On a weekly basis, reconciling cash deposits to invoice line details to certify the Accounts Receivable balance for Georgetown Air Services, LLC; recording revenue transactions for Georgetown Air Services; recording intercompany activity and reconciling the intercompany account; and record corporate credit card transactions.Innovation

Assists with process enhancements, including validation and testing related to the Acumatica financial system implementation and the implementation of other process improvements within Accounting.Requirements

1+ years of experience in bookkeeping or general accountingAssociate's degree in accounting (required)Bachelor's degree in accounting (preferred)Knowledge of Microsoft Office (required)Knowledge of accounting systems (preferred)Excellent organizational skills & the ability to multi-taskExcellent communication skills and attention to detail
