Overview
The
Senior Accountant
plans and monitors the completion of book close processes and financial reports in a deadline focused environment, while ensuring that issues are escalated as needed. This role will use increasing expertise to process detailed information with high levels of accuracy and to research and apply accounting policy. The Senior Accountant must communicate effectively with other units and management to plan work, gather information, and present results. They will also lead efforts to continuously improve processes to produce relevant financial reports in the fastest, most efficient means possible.
Responsibilities
Ensure transactions are recorded accurately and in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)Prepare monthly journal entries to properly record accounting transactions, ensuring that journal entries have proper backup to substantiate the entryProcess payment invoices and expense reimbursement when neededResearch and analyze P&L budget to actual variances and analyze P&L trendsProvide financial analysis and interpretation to senior management, identifying trends, risks, and opportunitiesCollaborate with other departments to gather financial data and insights, facilitating cross-functional decision-makingIdentify opportunities for process improvement and automation to enhance efficiency and accuracy in financial operationsAddress inquiries and provide explanations regarding financial matters to internal and external partiesCollaborate with external auditors to facilitate the annual audit processReconcile assigned balance sheet accounts monthly; resolve any reconciling items on a timely basisContribute to developing automated SOX controls, maintaining SOX compliance, and holding control owners accountableAssist with variable compensation calculations, accruals, plan design, and approval processMaintain and continuously develop understanding of NetSuite, Zuora, SalesForce, financial reporting platforms such as Looker and Tableau, all accounting systems, and moreOptimize the use of the software and tools the Company has purchased to increase automation & efficiency; research new tools when applicable considering financial responsibility/budgetEnsure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reportingOther duties as assigned and that bring value to the companyQualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA preferred.Minimum of 3 years' relevant experienceExperience in accounting for a public company preferredThorough understanding of US GAAP and SOXExcellent verbal and written communication abilities across all levels of an organizationStrong leadership skills with dedication to driving and achieving resultsExperience with NetSuite, Blackline, Zuora, Salesforce, Tableau and Looker preferredAdvanced Microsoft Excel SkillsSedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standingVisual acuity for reading and using the computerAbility to perceiveAbility to freely move about the officeAbility to use the phone/computer/keyboard/mouse/general office equipment for extended periods of timeAbility to communicate with others in order to exchange informationFluency in the English language
