Description
The Senior Accountant will report to the Senior Accounting Manager and play an active role in the financial close process and preparation of month-end/quarter-end journal entries.
ResponsibilitiesActively participate in the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process to ensure accurate and timely completion of expenses, accrual, and prepayments accountsPrepare journal entries in compliance with GAAP and the company's policies and procedures. Support entries with proper documentation and approvals.Review and analyze R&D contracts and change orders, vendor financial reports and invoices as needed, to determine the appropriate journal entries.Communicate with business partners for information relevant to R&D activitiesEstablish the integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying, consolidating, and entering transactionsPrepare account reconciliations, roll forward schedules, other ad hoc schedules and analysis for reporting purposesContribute to the implementation of new or enhancement of existing accounting systems, programs, and procedures.Assist with external audit requests and PBC items for the quarterly and year end auditsPrepare flux analysis for assigned accountsParticipate and support the maintenance of Sarbanes-Oxley internal control requirements with external SOX auditorsPerforming other accounting duties and supporting junior staff as assignedAssist with special ad-hoc projects as assignedQualifications
3+ years of experience in accounting operationsBA in Accounting/Finance required, CPA preferredAdvanced Excel skills requiredStrong knowledge of GAAP and SOX 404 compliance highly preferredStrong analytical skillsExcellent communication skills are requiredProven success working well under pressure, highly organized with the ability to meet deadlinesAbility to work in an environment with continued process improvement and changeExperience with NetSuite and Coupa requiredBiopharmaceutical industry and public accounting experience desiredExperience in interactions with external auditors (internal control/SOX auditors, external financial auditors)
This role is based at our Hayward, CA location. The anticipated salary range for fully qualified candidates applying for this position is $110,000 - $120,000 USD annually. This salary range is an estimate of what we reasonably expect to pay for this posted position. The actual salary may vary based on various factors including, without limitation, individual education, experience, tenure, skills and abilities, internal equity and alignment with market data.
