Position Summary:

Performs professional work in the maintenance and completion of general ledger activities and for assistance in the preparation of financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting practices and principles.

Performs duties in alignment with the 2019-2024 COTA Strategic Plan and in support of the organization's vision

This Position is Responsible For:Works with the Accounting team to perform the monthly closing of the Authority's books, including preparation of necessary journal entries as required;Performs monthly reconciliations of COTA's bank accounts;Maintains various support schedules necessary to make monthly journal entries (prepaids, commission, accruals, travel expense reports, etc.);Maintains and assists in the preparation of all accounting for grant projects, including reconciling monthly general ledger activity. Performs accounting functions related to Fixed Asset Management. Maintains various depreciation schedules for buildings, vehicles and equipment and other capitalized assets. Reconciliation of appropriate accounts, booking required journal entries in coordination with the Grants Administrator;Prepares year-end schedules in support of the annual audit requirements;Prints AP checks to pay vendors and review payments to ensure proper approval has been received and payment amounts are correct;Maintains cores (for bus parts) spreadsheet, working with vendors, storeroom, AP and purchasing to ensure correct quantities and GL balances;Preparation of the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR);At Minimum You'll Need:

Requires an associate degree in business or an accounting-related field and three (3) years of progressive accounting experience including experience with computerized general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, computerized bank reconciliation, variance analysis-balance sheets and expense accounts. A bachelor's degree in lieu of experience will also be considered.
