Role Overview:
We seek a knowledgeable Senior Accountant who can increase department accuracy and efficiency. This role will be responsible for a variety of accounting tasks such as general accounting operations, financial transactions, bank reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations, month-end procedures, and sales tax filing. A successful Senior Accountant should be analytical, detail-oriented, and honest. The ideal individual should possess excellent interpersonal skills and a strong understanding of accounting and management principles.
Responsibilities:
•Evaluates, develops, and improves department controls, systems, and procedures that increase accuracy and efficiency.
•Participates in the monthly closing process.
•Prepares monthly balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss statements.
•Maintains the general ledger.
•Processes month-end, year-end, and major projects accurately and within timelines.
•Ensures that all accounting processes align with GAAP and current financial legislation.
•Maintains accurate and complete financial records and participates in audits or reconciliations, as needed.
•Assists other departments as they develop strategies, establish objectives, and make decisions that could have a financial impact on the business.
•Prepares and files monthly/quarterly sales tax returns for multiple states.
•Assists with other projects and reporting as required and/or requested.
•Prepares monthly bank reconciliations.
Requirements
•Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
•CPA with Public Accounting experience a plus.
•Must have Distribution or Manufacturing experience.
• Experience with Audits and ERP systems.
•Excellent leadership and communication skills, highly efficient and accurate.
•Strong understanding of accounting, finance, and management principles.
•Exceptional math skills, computer proficiency, and MS Office (advanced Excel skills).
•Ability to prioritize among competing tasks while using critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
•Attention to detail and the ability to analyze large amounts of data.
•Ability to pass background checks where required.
