Description
As a Community Based Services High Risk Advocate you will provide services to victims of domestic violence; to include providing crisis intervention, individual and group advocacy for victims and identifying high risk clients; data collection of the High Risk Response Teams; providing educational activities, and training presentations to the community arenas with a specific focus on high risk prevention; establishing a process of changing the attitudes and beliefs of the community with activities designed to actively promote healthy, non-violent relationships and addressing the factors that condone intimate partner violence with a consistent and systemic approach. A valid driver's license is required. This position will be base out of our Leominster, MA office and will travel in the area of North Central, MA.
RESPONSIBILITIES:Provide crisis intervention services, individual and group advocacy to victims of domestic violence in the community and/or agencyEstablish and maintain relationships with police departments, District Attorney's Office, Probation, schools, community agencies and faith-based organizations for collaboration purposesEnter and maintain data outcomes for various fundersAssessment of clients for high riskMaintain principles of confidentialityProvide consultation to police departments as needed for the High Risk Response TeamParticipate in all High Risk Response Team meetingsProvide outreach services to clients referred from SAFEPLAN AdvocatesProvide and answer hotline calls as needed and assist local police departmentsParticipate in the local domestic violence roundtable events as neededMaintain written documentation for client records per policyCollect and maintain required monthly statisticsAttend agency meetings and in-service training, as requiredParticipate in agency trainings, meetings, and community education presentationsDevelop and maintain community resource contactsAdhere to all YWCA Central Massachusetts Domestic Violence Services Policies and ProceduresOther tasks as assigned by the Supervisor/ManagerQualifications
Bachelor's Degree in related field such as Human Services, Counseling, Psychology or Social ServicesKnowledge of domestic violence and/or family violence and related issues such as substance abuse and mental health, crisis intervention, individual and group counseling, community development, and educationExperience working with diverse populationsDemonstrated ability to work cooperatively with other professionals and team membersAbility to maintain professional boundaries and client confidentialityEmpathetic, non-judgmental and active listening skillsAbility to assess and intervene in crisis situationsExcellent written and oral communication skillsOrganized; innovativeKnowledge of community resourcesExcellent computer skills required
