Senior Loan Officer , where, under the Mortgage Origination Officer, you will develop and retain a referral source network for residential mortgages. Responsibilities include evaluating members' finances to determine creditworthiness for a loan by utilizing consultative selling techniques.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:Identifies, contacts, and visits potential or existing Credit Union members independently; cultivates new real estate opportunities that can develop into strategic relationships.Develops and maintains relationships with industry peers to establish a referral source network for real estate loan generation.Interviews loan applicants and analyze their financial position to determine appropriate mortgage products. Consults with members on alternatives to the original loan application when necessary. Demonstrates a special effort to say "yes" to accommodate internal and external member needs.Communicates credit decisions to prospects and members and negotiates specific loan conditions within parameters defined by policy and credit decisions.Demonstrates proficiency in pipeline management with an emphasis on organization and multitasking skills.Coordinates and performs preliminary financial analysis and credit investigations to make sound credit decisions as directed. Uses sound judgment to escalate concerns that exceed authority or knowledge base to appropriate team members.Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Experience: Three years of experience as a real estate or related lender or relevant banking experience is required. Must have a valid driver's license and a good driving record with two years of driving experience. Proper National Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) credentials are required or obtained within 60 days of hire.

Education: Bachelor's degree required or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Interpersonal Skills: Position requires a significant amount of personal contact with others inside and outside the Credit Union, thus requiring a high degree of confidentiality, discretion, diplomacy, and tact in communication. Builds relationships and fosters positive interactions with Credit Union team members, members, and vendors by demonstrating friendly, helpful, and efficient service. Exceptional follow-up and follow-through skills are critical to success in this role. Must have the ability to motivate, influence, and gain the trust and cooperation of others. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required, including positive body language and tone and communicating clearly and concisely. Empathy, patience, active listening, and sound judgment are required. Must have the ability to understand and communicate products, services, and regulations.
