The Senior Accountant will assist with all the accounting functions for the parish and schools. Including preparation of accounting records, monthly closing and preparation of financial statements, budgeting and account analysis and reconciliation. The Senior Accountant reports to the Controller.

Essential Functions

Completes a timely month-end close and reconciliation of accounts and systems. Prepares and posts journal entries, reconciles balance sheet accounts.Review accounts payable transactions including bills and reconciliation of credit card statements, ensuring accuracy of each bill and proper classification in the general ledger.Investigates and resolves accounts payable discrepancies when necessary.Reviews accounts receivable and Electronic Funds Transactions, including accurate posting of transactions.Responsible for complying with Parish's & Schools financial and accounting system controls and policies.Posts and reconciles deposits for "other revenue" with the deposit log.Maintains an accurate & complete filing, record keeping & general ledger system.Creates timely and accurate monthly financial, budget, and statistical reports to parish and school leadership.Manages the preparation, presentation, approval and ongoing monitoring of the operation and capital budget in collaboration. Participates in long-term strategic planning.Ensures compliance with Diocesan policies and applicable federal and state laws and regulations, with the assistance of Diocesan staff.Position Qualifications

BA or BS degree with an academic background in either finance, accounting or business management.5+ years successful work experience in finance or accountingProficiency in Microsoft Excel, as well as other Microsoft Office Products.Working knowledge of QuickBooks, Ultipro, and Blackbaud Financial Edge desirable, but not required.Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing.Ability to make decisions and solve problems with limited direction.Attention to detail.Ability to maintain confidentialityCritical thinking and analysis.Ability to interact effectively as a team member.Understand and support the operation and mission of the Catholic Church.
