The Senior Accountant position is for Swisher's parent company, Island Management LLC. The Senior Accountant is primarily responsible for accurate and timely reconciliation and financial reporting of custody and investment accounts, as well as the monitoring and execution of monthly and annual financial close processes. This position includes general ledger responsibility for a number of legal and investment entities and will assist in preparation of and execution of money movement and trade entry into banking platforms. The Senior Accountant is also involved in external audit support and preparation of the external financial statements.

Key Responsibilities

Review and reconcile custody statements monthly, including preparation and posting of journal entries (gain/loss, dividends received/reinvested, sale & purchase of investments)Prepare Net Asset Valuation reporting to include monthly tracking of market value, capital calls, and distributionsReview and reconcile annual 1099 statements for custody accounts, including review files with commentary to show tie-out to Balance Sheet and Profit & Loss accounts to support the Tax departmentSubmit various money movement transactions into the banking platform for review and approval and post all journal entries (cash transfers, capital calls, sale & purchase of investments)Participate in annual audit, including preparation and posting of all final journal entries, downloading trial balances, preparation of confirmation letters, and review of draft financial statementsPrepare bank reconciliationsExecute daily, weekly, and monthly accounting activities to ensure timely workflow and recording of financial transactionsPerform financial analysis duties to ensure accurate recording, updating, and reporting for designated type of transactionsParticipate in accounting month and year-end closings to ensure accurate and timely recording/reporting of financial informationPerform ad hoc analysis and other tasks in support of the finance and investment teamParticipate in developing procedures and recommending changes; assist in reviewing, evaluating, and recommending improvements to improve financial decision-makingQualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration5+ years of public/private general accounting experienceExperience with NetSuite ERP and/or QuickBooks preferredConsiderable knowledge of modern principles, practices, and methods of accounting, internal accounting controls, and GAAPStrong knowledge of MS Excel to analyze large quantities of data, quantify, and illustrate financial reports and statementsAbility to communicate effectively, both orally and in writingSelf-motivated, capable of working independently, and strong organizational skills
