To evaluate the accuracy and quality of images and informs physician of any complications to provide optimum quality and patient care.Description of DutiesResponsible for overseeing the day-to-day radiological services and staff in assigned area.Provides leadership, coaching and technical support to assigned staff.Plans and sets short-term objective for the assigned area.Participates in the planning and monitoring of the departmental budget.Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhere to approved budgets.Plans and schedules work assignments and coordinate requests for radiologic services.Assesses and recommends new equipment, equipment modification, and possible room renovations within the department.Evaluates the quality of images produced by entry-level technologists. Complies with all radiologic safety regulations.Demonstrates skills required to complete clinical competencies and can function independently without direct supervision.Informs new employees on departmental policies, operating procedures, operation and troubleshooting of equipment, and safety standards and procedures and participates in the training of subordinates.Ensures that patient studies are reviewed for accuracy, coded, and charged appropriately.Coordinates the scheduling of equipment repairs and is the assigned liaison with vendors.Addresses and handles patient care concerns and notifies the radiologist if and when gross pathological findings are discovered.Communicates professionally, effectively, and promptly with all patient care providers, patients, and guests.Assists in the selection, training, and evaluation of radiologic technologists, providing ongoing guidance and feedback to support their professional development.May perform duties of a radiologic technologist as needed.Oversees and enters data into systems (i.e. PACS , equipment systems, electronic medical records and other computer systems.May collaborate with architects and designers to optimize room design plan layouts.Reviews and understands the latest imaging technology and modalities and ensures that the suite’s space and infrastructure can accommodate upgrades and changes in equipment.Responsible for in-depth knowledge of all routine section-specific protocols/procedures.Performs specialized procedures with limited assistance.Stays up to date with advances in radiology technology, techniques, and regulations, and ensures the department remains current with industry best practices.Participates in organizational facility initiatives, workgroups, and/or committees.Performs other duties as assigned.Supervision ReceivedGeneral supervision from assigned supervisor.Supervision GivenDirect supervision of assigned staff.Required EducationAssociate’s degree in Radiologic Technology or successful completion of two-year accredited Radiologic Technology program to contain courses of study in fluoroscopy.Preferred EducationNone.Licenses/CertificationsRegistry in Radiography by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists ( ARRT )®. Must have a Medical Radiologic Technologist ( MRT ) license from the Texas Medical Board. Basic Life Support ( BLS ) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation ( CPR ) certification.Preferred:Advanced Registry in Nuclear Medicine Technology by the ARRT or NMTCB preferred.As condition of employment this position requires the applicant to be authorized to operate a University-Owned Vehicle for Official University Business. Per University of Texas System Policy 157, applicants will be subject to a motor vehicle record check for their most recent thirty-six (36) month history. Out of State Drivers are required to submit a 36-month history MVR from their prior State of residence(s).Required ExperienceFour (4) years of experience as a Registered Radiologic Technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists ( ARRT )® to include supervisory experience.Preferred ExperienceNone.EquipmentUse of standard office and medical imaging equipment.Working ConditionsNeeds to be able to successfully perform all required duties. Office/healthcare environment; some travel, weekend work, and irregular shifts may be required. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
