Job Responsibilities
Responsible for quality, delivery, and cost of procured materialsManage a multi-discipline teamAssist in the development of forecast/requirements for area of responsibilityAssist in developing and implementing strategy for assigned area of responsibilityImplement transition plans to new supplierAssist in creating Strategic Supplier Purchase AgreementsEnforce company and department policies and proceduresMonitor metrics and take action as appropriateCommunicate and clarify departmental goals and metricsResponsible for ensuring monthly budgets are not exceeded; take action to realign to plan if budgets are exceededConsolidate requisitions as much as possible to obtain leverage pricingReview open requisitions weekly and meet with appropriate buyers on the open requisitionsReview placement to requisition need date and length of time in purchasingCoordinate with Engineering and Quality on a team approach to supplier assessments and approvalAdvise planning, engineering and drafting of item master errors, updates, or omissions in relation to mil-specs or new or obsolete itemsAdvise planning, engineering and contracts of changes in prices or lead times that make and produce cost-prohibitive or lead times detrimental to production cyclesExpedite critical components to ensure on-time deliveriesBe prepared to address any current or potential parts issuesLook for creative ways to improve purchasing ability to make contributions to the company’s goalsImprove understanding of purchasing relationship to the overall company plans and strategyResearch and analyze costing information for cost reductionEvaluate dispositioned discrepancy reports, signed off by program engineers and Q.C. engineers, and submitting information to both for re-evaluationSupport, communicate and defend the mission, values and culture of the companyQualifications
Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business, engineering or equivalent experienceA minimum of 5 years demonstrated experience in high technology, aerospace or defense or equivalent experienceDemonstrated knowledge of supply chain management tools and proceduresDemonstrated management skills, particularly “influence management” and “conflict resolution”Experience throughout the product lifecycle from New Product Introduction through obsolescence to include: generation of system and subsystem statements of work and subcontracts, strategic supplier selection, risk management, and continuous improvement efforts including implementation for cost reduction and performance improvement effortsExperience in finance, contracting, export regulations, engineering, logistics, manufacturing and DoD, ITAR, EAR, FAR, DFAR regulationsDemonstrated problem-solving skillsDemonstrated success in managing manpower planning, program reviews, scheduling and budget controlMust have a successful track record in managing complex aerospace/defense supply chain activitiesU.S. Citizenship required.
