Looking for someone to work between our Hammond, LA and Gretna, LA hospitals.

Summary:

The HIM Manager is responsible for management of the Health Information Management Department including procedures, standards, and objectives across facility locations. Directs and supervises all functions of HIM including record completion, transcription, release of information, documentation compliance, and storage and retrieval of records. The position will be in the Hammond, Gonzales, and Gretna Louisiana offices. Travel between locations is a requirement for this position.

Salaried Position Monday - Friday

Responsibilities:

Organize, direct, and manage all HIM functions of all the facility locations.

Educate and monitor HIM employees job functions including release of information, chart analysis, quality reviews, physician deficiency analysis, and uploading documentation in health information systems.

Provide education and training to HIM and company employees in areas relevant to HIM policies and procedures.

Monitor electronic health record (EHR) system and set standards for data quality and ethical practice.

Monitor transcription service for compliance with turnaround time on dictation and contracted services.

Determine workload priorities to ensure deadlines are met.

Implement processes and systems to support accurate and complete medical record documentation.

Identify documentation and medical record form(s) problems and make/recommend improvements.

Audit medical record documentation for compliance with local and federal regulations and regulatory and accreditation requirements related to privacy, security, and medical record completion.

Work with physicians to improve the quality of documentation.

Develop and implement departmental goals and objectives.

Implement and maintain efficiency procedures in areas such as workflow and documentation issues.

Serve as an internal consultant on HIM issues including uploading documents in the EHR; release of information; transcription services; confidentiality; medical records storage and retrieval; record retention; and documentation requirements of the medical record.

Develop and participate in the development and maintenance of HIM policies and procedures.

Educate oneself and stay abreast of state and federal regulations and regulatory agencies and accreditation requirements for medical records.
