Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic General Manager to oversee the entire operation of our bakery, ensuring the smooth and efficient functioning of all departments—specifically production, delivery, retail, wholesale, and administration. The General Manager will play a critical role in driving operational efficiency, maintaining product quality, adhering to health and safety standards, and the overall financial success of the bakery.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership and Operations Management

Oversee daily operations of the bakery, including production, retail, and wholesale, ensuring seamless coordination between departments.

Lead, mentor, and manage department heads to ensure team collaboration and operational success.

Manage staff scheduling, workflow, and resource allocation to optimize efficiency and maintain a productive environment.

Ensure all departments meet company goals, including production targets, quality standards, and timely deliveries.

Financial Oversight and Reporting

Collaborate with the accounting department to monitor budgets, control expenses and maximize profitability.

Analyze financial reports, identify areas for cost-saving improvements, and implement strategies to enhance overall financial performance.

Quality Control, Health and Safety Compliance

Establish and maintain rigorous quality control standards to ensure all baked goods meet the highest levels of consistency, taste, and presentation.

Oversee compliance with local, state, and federal health and safety regulations, including agriculture department inspections and third-party health audits.

Implement internal health inspection protocols to anticipate and prevent any potential non-compliance issues, ensuring the bakery maintains an A+ rating.

Maintain detailed documentation of inspection reports, corrective actions, and quality control audits to ensure ongoing compliance.

Work with production teams to regularly evaluate and update safety protocols, ensuring staff are trained in health and safety procedures.

Logistics and Delivery

Coordinate the delivery of wholesale orders ensuring timely, accurate, and efficient fulfillment.

Work closely with logistics and delivery teams to optimize delivery routes, reduce costs, and maintain positive customer relationships.

Customer Relations, Sales and Business Development

Manage and drive sales performance across retail and wholesale channels, setting and achieving sales targets.

Develop strategies for increasing revenue by identifying new markets, growing our customer base, and expanding product offerings.

Maintenance Program Management

Oversee the maintenance and upkeep of all bakery equipment, ensuring machinery operates efficiently and safely.

Implement a comprehensive preventative maintenance program to minimize downtime, improve operational efficiency, and reduce repair costs.

Human Resources and Team Development

Oversee the recruitment, training, and development of staff across all departments.

Foster a positive team-oriented work culture that encourages collaboration, growth, and innovation.
