Be part of transforming lives in the Ventura County community as Technical Specialist II – Fluent in an Indigenous Languages such as Mixteco, Zapoteco, Purepecha, or other indigenous languages!The Human Services Agency is seeking Technical Specialists who are fluent in English as well as Mixteco, Zapoteco, Purepecha and/or another Indigenous language spoken by Agency clients focusing on language interpretation for clients, targeted community outreach, and special projects in efforts to deliver efficient, responsive and quality client services for the benefit of our community.THE POSITIONUnder supervision, the Technical Specialist – Fluent in Indigenous Language assists and supports staff with language interpretation involving sensitive, confidential topics, community outreach, special projects, and routine professional, clerical, and technical work.AGENCY/DEPARTMENT:

Human Services AgencyPAYROLL TITLE:

Technical Specialist II-PHTechnical Specialist II-PH is represented by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) and is eligible for overtime compensation. Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:Provides in-person and virtual Indigenous language interpretation for clients regarding sensitive, confidential topics.Provides input into outreach strategies, and performs outreach at community events and venues.Collects, records, and analyzes information necessary for a special study or program area. Identifies and categorizes relevant information.Evaluates data, draws conclusions, and prepares recommendations.Conducts interviews with clients or the public in order to assist with the provision of program services.Provides public contact and communicates information on programs and services.Assembles and keeps accurate records and reviews information for accuracy, completeness, and consistency. Maintains filing and pulls historical documents and records from established files.Writes correspondence and prepares narrative and statistical reports for supervisory review, and assists in the presentation of oral and/or written reports.Performs data collection and entry, makes arithmetic calculations, assists with collection and analysis of statistical data, and may display results using spreadsheet or presentation software.Assists in researching information for projects. May plan and carry out assigned projects under supervision that improve client service.May operate office equipment and machines.Performs other related duties as required.EDUCATION, TRAINING, and EXPERIENCEAny combination of education and/or experience which would provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform this position. The required knowledge, skills and abilities may be obtained by:Some experience in community outreach, customer service, interpretation, record maintenance, administrative assignments, or other related experience.Substitution for experience:Twelve (12) semester units of college course work in human services, sociology, psychology, ethnic studies, communications, or a closely related field may be substituted for experience.NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:Fluent in Mixteco, Zapoteco, Purepecha, or another Indigenous language spoken by Agency clients, and English.Some jobs may require a valid California driver license; mileage reimbursement will be provided for approved business travel.Ability and willing to drive to multiple work locations and offsite meetings.COUNTY EMPLOYEES AS DISASTER SERVICE WORKERSWhen a disaster strikes of natural or manmade origin, Ventura County employees may be called upon to provide service to the community by assisting in emergency response efforts.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Knowledge of principles and theories of professional/technical disciplines may be required depending on the assignment.Techniques required for gathering, evaluating, transmitting, interpreting, or conveying information in an indigenous language.Interviewing techniques.Record keeping practices and techniques.FINAL FILING DATE:
