Starting Salary: $23.86 Per Hour - Depending on QualificationsGrant Funded Position - On Site PositionThe City of Waco Seeks:A dedicated and proactive Public Health Planner to join our Public Health Department. This position plays a vital role in enhancing our community’s preparedness for public health emergencies and ensuring the effective coordination of response efforts. The successful candidate will assist in the development and maintenance of Public Health Emergency Preparedness (PHEP) plans, manage inventory for emergency equipment, conduct training programs, and collaborate with community partners and regional agencies. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about public health and emergency preparedness.Position Overview:Under general supervision, assists with developing and implementing Public Health Emergency Preparedness (PHEP) plans for coordinated responses to public health emergencies.Minimum Qualifications:Bachelors Degree in Public Health, Nursing, Business or Public Administration, Emergency Management, or a related field2 years of experience in public health programsOr an equivalent combination of education and experienceRN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State LicensureIf BSN, professional registration as Registered Nurse by the Texas Board of Nursing is requiredValid Texas Driver's LicenseEssential Functions:Assists with the development and maintenance of Public Health Emergency Preparedness (PHEP) plans for the coordinated responses to public health and other civil emergencies; coordinates meetings with community partners and regional agencies; assists with PHEP grant administration and reporting.Assists with management of inventory levels, coordination of preventative maintenance, and ensuring equipment readiness. Assists with development and implementation of policies and procedures related to inventory management, deployment, and warehouse activities.Researches technical issues; coordinates and presents training and public education programs; collects, compiles and maintains data on PHEP operations and grant program activities.Operates a vehicle to transport and deploy/demobilize response equipment and resources to various field sites during an emergency.Driving is essential.May be required to respond after hours, including holidays and weekends, in the event of a departmental or City-wide emergency.
