The Assistant Director (AD) of Transfer Admissions serves a vital role as a recruiter, admissions counselor, office leader, and program manager. This AD position will oversee a specific area within the TU enrollment portfolio, working with select special student populations such as Degrees to Succeed, Honors, Military, and other unique transfer student types. This position will serve as an official representative of Towson University at CCBC, which includes regularly scheduled visits to CCBC’s four main campuses, attending recruitment events, and providing pre-transfer advising for CCBC students who make an early commitment to transfer to Towson.

As a member of the Transfer Team, the AD will aid in the successful strategic planning and recruitment of qualified students from inside and outside the state of Maryland. They will recruit, review, and enroll qualified students and their families, assisting with various marketing activities, and developing relationships with college advisors, Community-Based Organizations, MD Community Colleges, USM, TU alumni, and other external constituents. Travel is required as well as periodic evening and weekend work.

Responsibilities and Duties

Manage transfer recruitment, pre-advising, and admissions for the Community College of Baltimore County.

Plan, coordinate, and oversee the development of special population cohorts while creating and supporting strategic enrollment goals and initiatives pertaining to these groups. This includes project management, engagement, and outreach with partners both across TU and throughout the community, event planning and peer leadership.

Coordinate the Degrees to Succeed Program with CCBC and ensure all students are advised, counseled, and admitted properly through the pipeline.

Review, interpret and evaluate college transcripts and other documents for the CCBC Degrees to Succeed Program and newly admitted and currently enrolled CCBC transfer students to determine transferability and applicability of college courses, prior learning, credit by examination, military and other non-traditional credit-bearing experiences.

Represent TU at recruitment & pre-advisement events, conduct in-person and virtual information sessions for prospective students and families in addition to hosting regularly scheduled counseling sessions at community colleges and virtual appointments.

Assist with marketing campaigns and personalized outreach campaigns via phone, email, text, notes, events, etc. Actively participate in open houses and other TU recruitment/yield events. Utilize data and enrollment trends to develop a recruitment and outreach strategy.

Serve as a resource for academic departments, community colleges and off-campus agencies regarding the transferability of courses to the University. Act as a liaison to an academic college for relevant matters in transfer admissions, evaluations, and curriculum.

Complete general admissions duties including, but not limited to, customer service, applicant processing, holistic review, on-campus events, special projects, campus committees, and any other duties as assigned as needed to meet the needs of enrollment and the goals of the university.

Telework may be available for this position up to two days per week following the completion of 90 days of service in good standing.

Qualifications and Skills

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is required.

Two years of prior experience in higher education (admissions, registrar, or academic advising preferred).

Excellent Communication Skills.

Ability to provide excellent customer service.

Ability to present to small and large groups of people in various types of venues.

The successful candidate will be a team player with a strong work ethic, interested in and attentive to cross-cultural communication, and someone who actively contributes to the office welfare in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.

Must pay attention to detail, possess strong organizational and analytical skills, and be comfortable working in a team environment.

Must have ability to travel independently and on short notice

Salary and Benefits

$61,000 annually and full University benefits that include 22 days of annual leave, up to 15 holidays, personal and sick days; excellent health, life, and retirement plans; and tuition remission.
