Position can be located within Carol Stream or Deerfield IL

Schedule:

Monday-Friday 8:00-4:30

Major Responsibilities:

Provides strategic direction for the database architecture and systems, including upgrades.Provides database design and support for application and infrastructure projectsManages and maintains the databases to ensure availability and performance standards are met.Plans for future growth of systems and recommend improvements.Monitors databases to proactively prevent issues from occurring.Provides technical leadership to ensure successful management of projects throughout the development life cycle and timely delivery of enhancements.Designs and maintains database structures according to best practices and company standards.Conducts disaster recovery tests and manages backup processes.Assists developers with tuning of code to ensure successful implementations.Understands and demonstrates Essendant's Core Values.Performs other duties as assigned.Skills/Knowledge Required:

Excellent RDBMS skills in SQL Server, SSIS, SSRS requiredExcellent skills in UNIX, Linux and Windows Operating Systems.Knowledge of Oracle, MongoDB, Progress, MySQL is preferred.Excellent time/project management skillsExcellent attention to detail.Excellent problem-solving skills.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Intermediate leadership skills.Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or Computer ScienceCertification in RDBMS preferredMinimum 6 years of database administration experience, 8 years preferredBenefits:
