MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Required:Associate's Degree in Nursing.Three years' nursing experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.Professional registration as a Registered Nurse by the Texas Board of Nursing.Additional technical certifications in public health are preferred and may be required.Must possess a valid Texas Driver's License.Preferred:
Public Health experience.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Provides direct patient care for PHD clinic patients; observes and assesses patients' conditions and behavior; reviews patients' records and records nursing notes on a patient chart.Performs a variety of medical tests and patient care treatments; provides information, counseling, and medical case management according to specific program and physician guidelines; assists with outreach programs; and community education.Supports clinic outreach activities by presenting service opportunities in off-site locations including, but not limited to, businesses, schools, churches, community centers, private organizations, or private homes. Manages inventory of supplies and equipment.May be required to respond after-hours, including holidays and weekends, in the event of a departmental or City-wide emergency.POSITION OVERVIEW:Under basic supervision, provides patient care services for the Public Health District (PHD).The City of Waco offers a complete benefits package for eligible employees including; health, dental, vision, Employee Assistance Program (EAP), Flexible Spending Accounts, life insurance, long term and short term disability, retirement, deferred compensation plans, holidays, vacation, sick leave, credit union and savings bonds.
