We are seeking an experienced Director of In Vitro to lead the BioAge metabolic research team, with a focus on obesity and cardiometabolic diseases.
The Role:
You will develop and manage research programs and align the technical teams around the company’s vision and strategy. This role will work closely with leaders across the company to plan and execute strategy, manage pipeline activities, and support the advancement of research programs throughout stages of research and development. This role reports to the Senior Vice President of Research.
You:
You will bring significant experience and a proven track record of success in this therapeutic area, as well as a deep understanding of the state of the art in drug discovery and development, including molecular biology methods and bioinformatic tools.
Essential Job Duties:
Provide subject matter expertise for maturation of later stage development programs, including molecular understandings and therapeutic areas.
Define and direct efforts to screen therapeutic interventions against new targets related to obesity and cardiometabolic diseases, as well as collaborating with technology teams to evaluate and develop improvements in therapeutic approaches.
Stay up to date and drive implementation of new in vitro and molecular biology technologies in obesity and related fields.
Utilize outsourcing strategically to achieve objectives, especially in specialized areas of obesity and cardiometabolic development.
Coach and mentor team members across multiple levels of reporting to nurture and expand perspective and rigor to experiments and strategy.
Required Skills and Abilities:
Strong leadership in driving research with a focus on obesity and cardiometabolic diseases.
Proven track record in managing cross-functional teams and external vendors, ensuring the integration and quality of obesity and cardiometabolic research.
Expertise in the development, standardization, and implementation of assays, particularly in the context of obesity and cardiometabolic diseases.
Exceptional mentoring and team management skills, with the ability to lead teams focusing on obesity and cardiometabolic biomarker research.
Strategic thinking and the ability to manage resources effectively, ensuring the alignment of research with the company’s strategic objectives in obesity and cardiometabolic drug development.
Strong communication skills, capable of articulating complex scientific concepts and results to a diverse range of stakeholders.
Minimum Qualifications:
Ph.D. degree in Life Sciences is required; 10+ years of relevant biotech/pharmaceutical experience in cardiometabolic research.
Leadership experience with the capacity to build, develop, and lead teams, both as a manager and cross-functionally through the organization.
In-depth knowledge of cardiometabolic systems and the ability to distill insights from complex molecular datasets (e.g., sequencing data, functional assays, etc.) is essential.
Familiarity with regulatory submissions and strong technical writing skills are expected.
Superior oral presentation and written communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with a wide variety of internal and external constituencies.
Ability to work with minimal direction and be flexible.
Strategic vision and ability to tie together program and business goals.
Ability to foster and contribute to a culture of excellence grounded in problem solving and teamwork.
Ability to prioritize and to manage complexity.
