DescriptionStarbird Chicken (“Starbird) is a California-based quick service restaurant chain specializing in high-quality chicken dishes. Driven by our outstanding unit-level economics, we have partnered with exceptional private equity investors to grow our base of company-owned stores, and we have launched our franchise program to further accelerate growth.We are seeking an experienced and strategic Chief Financial Officer to join our executive team and lead our financial operations as we expand our quick service restaurant chain through growth of company-owned and franchised locations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in multi-unit finance, franchising, and scaling operations. The ideal CFO candidate is willing to be hands-on with a smaller venture backed company’s embarking on rapid growth.Responsibilities:Financial Leadership and StrategyDevelop and execute the company's financial strategy to support our aggressive growth plansEnsure company has the needed accounting and finance team and processes in placeOversee all financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, financial planning and analysis, treasury, and tax.Manage company contracts, construction expense and investment tracking, lease negotiations and administrationProvide strategic financial input to senior management and the board of directorsLead capital raising efforts and manage relationships with investors and financial institutionsFranchising and Growth ManagementDevelop financial models and projections for franchise expansionOversee due diligence processes for new franchiseesCreate and implement financial systems to support franchisee operations and reportingAnalyze potential markets for company-owned expansion opportunitiesDevelop and maintain new store prototype models to aid in the selection and approval of potential new sitesLead company budgeting and forecasting processOperational FinanceOptimize cash flow management across corporate and franchised locationsImplement cost control measures and improve operational efficiencyManage risk and insurance programsOversee internal controls and compliance with financial regulationsReporting and AnalyticsDevelop comprehensive financial reporting systems for management and franchiseesProvide data-driven insights to guide business decisions and strategyOversee the preparation of financial statements, business activity reports, and forecastsOversee company financial statement audit and tax filingsRequirementsQualifications:Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; MBA a plusCPA certification highly desirable10+ years of progressive financial management experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership roleExperience in the restaurant industry, preferably in quick service or fast casual conceptsStrong understanding of franchising models and multi-unit operationsProven track record of scaling financial operations in high-growth environmentsExcellent analytical and problem-solving skillsStrong leadership, team building, and communication abilities
