Job SummaryThe HR Specialist will provide support in functional areas of the facility's Human Resources department, which includes recruitment and employment, personnel records, employee relations, compensation management, benefits administration, organization development and training, occupational health, safety, and security. The HR Specialist acts as an advisor, coach, and guide in all aspects of the employment life cycle. Essential Job FunctionsLead safety program in accordance with established business processes.Coordinate investigation of workplace injuries and near miss incidents.Administer workers compensation claims process.Oversee, coordinate, and support multi-site recruiting to obtain qualified applicant pool.Support and coordinate all pre-employment screening requirements, including background checks, employment verifications, and pre-employment drug screens and physicals.Oversee completion of new hire orientation.Support performance management process including review of annual goals, periodic process administration, and assisting managers with Performance Improvement Plans and Individual Development Plans.Partner with leadership and management in execution of HR programs and initiatives to support organizational key values.Provide coaching and feedback to Managers and Supervisors to improve leadership effectiveness.Oversee progressive disciplinary actions in accordance with established guidelines.Administer alcohol and drug testing program in accordance with established guidelines.Other duties may be assigned.Supervisory ResponsibilitiesThis position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications and CompetenciesDemonstrated knowledge of the practices and principles of Human Resources including FMLA, ADA, worker's compensation, safety administration, benefits, and employee relations.Ability to work well with all levels of employees and management.Experience with HRIS (HCM) systems.Excellent communication and organizational skills, including the ability to work effectively under pressure and deal with multiple priorities.Demonstrated ability to handle confidential material and information in an ethical, professional manner and process the local payroll function.Education and ExperienceBachelor's degree (B.S./B.A.) or equivalent from a college or university OR equivalent combination of education and experience.Three or more years of HR experience with exposure to employee relations, performance management, compensation, benefits administration, training and development, and recruitment is preferred.Experience in Industrial Manufacturing environment is preferred.TravelEmployee must be able to travel 10% of the time.
