Eliassen Group is supporting a large government integrator in the search of a Microsoft Server Engineer/System Administrator.
This will be onsite twice a week in D.C. and must be W2. It will also be a 6-month contract to hire. Due to the nature of the work this candidate will be sponsored for a Public Trust clearance which can take 4-9 weeks to obtain.The candidate will be working with a team of server engineers to troubleshoot issues for multiple systems in multiple datacenter locations. The candidate will provide support, implementation, and design services for Windows-based systems across the enterprise. The candidate will be responsible for resolving and completing assigned tasks and change requests and will act as an escalation for support issues. The candidate will also be responsible for applying new solutions through research and collaboration with team members and will be advising on course of actions for new application initiatives.Two-days per week onsite requirement in Washington DC.Once every 2-3 months support existing server infrastructure in a 24x7 on-call escalation capacity as part of a team rotation.Job Duties:This position requires a minimum 2x/week onsite.Once every 2-3 months support server infrastructure in a 24x7 on-call escalation capacity as part of a team rotation.Will assist with monthly Server Patching once a month during Saturday maintenance window.Perform Windows server cloning in support of dual-stack testing for IPv4 and IPv6Perform clustering using VMware ESXi and Hyper-V, and perform commissioning, management, and decommissioning of virtual servers.Will provide support in commissioning, troubleshooting, and managing physical, virtual, and cloud servers including AWS and Azure servers.Aid in resolving Service Now incident tickets, fulfilling service requests, and reviewing change requests the enterprise.Maintain and update environmental documentation, standard Operating Procedures, and engineering documentation.Provide support to system administrators to resolve issues when required provide support in response to outages including conducting root cause analysis.Represent team and provide subject matter expert support during Technical Interchange Meetings with customers to determine and finalize requirements.Will provide support in queue management of ServiceNow Tickets and resolving new and aging tickets.Recognize and escalate risks, issues, and concerns when necessary.Required Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesDemonstrate expert knowledge of Windows OS to include W2K12R2, W2K16, W2k19, W2k22.Strong knowledge and expertise in Hyper-V and VMware.Experience using Microsoft Deployment Tookit (MDT).Experience with Dell Open Manage Enterprise and iDRAC.Expertise with PowerShell and command-line scripting.Experience performing dual-stack and IPv6-only testing of Windows Servers and other Windows-based systems.Experience performing dual-stack implementation of IPv4 and IPv6, ideally with pure IPv6 as well.Expert knowledge and troubleshooting skills to resolve failed update installation in Windows OS.Experience with hardware and software purchasesExperience managing environments of 2000+ servers across multiple field site locations.Experience with Microsoft BitLocker and data-at-rest encryption requirements.Knowledge of AD Group policy and applying security posture via GPO's.Experience with performing root cause analysis, risk identification, and risk mitigationAbility to collaborate and perform in team environmentMust be a self-started with strong problem solving and communication skills.Experience with installing hardware drivers, firmware, bios, and other hardware upgrades for Dell servers.Demonstrate knowledge of common ports and protocols used by Windows servers and clients.PreferredAWS/ Azure Cloud Certifications a plusVMware Certifications a plusExpert level knowledge and experience performing clustering.Experience leading troubleshooting calls spanning across multiple teams and using multi-discipline approach.
