Never experience the same day twice! The observation and overflow unit is devoted to the assessment of patients to determine if a patient can be safely transitioned or admitted to the hospital.
This observation and overflow nursing unit provides the opportunity to care for multiple patients requiring a variety of care needs.
If you are an experienced Registered Nurse, this is a great place to use all of your skills! Exhibit expert assessment skills, problem solving, and critical thinking during quick admission/discharge turn over.

- Chest Pain
- Congestive Heart Failure
- Syncope
- Abdominal-Gastrointestinal Conditions
Major responsibilities:
- Assesses patient's physical and psychosocial condition throughout the continuum of care.
- Develops and communicates patient's plan of care reflecting patient issues and proposed interventions to achieve desired patient outcome.
- Communicates effectively with all members of the health care team and related departments to provide accurate information about the care of the patients.
- Practices the 5 rights to patient safety when administering medications, blood or blood products and treatments (right patient, right medication, right route, right dose, right time).
- Responds to crisis in a calm, efficient manner, directing others concisely.
- Evaluates patient outcomes, effectiveness of plan of care and readiness for discharge and/or continuing care.
Requirements:
- Associate degree in nursing or higher.
- Connecticut RN license
- BLS Certificate
- ACLS Certificate
