Seeking a Quality Control Specialist to join a team of all-stars. This candidate will have a background in defense and aerospace industry to uphold the highest standards of quality and safety in our manufacturing processes. The Quality Control Specialist will play a pivotal role in ensuring compliance with product specifications, drawings, industry regulations and standards while contributing to the continuous improvement of our products and processes.
Compensation: $80k - $90k + DOE
Location: Stafford, VA
Schedule: Mon - Fri, 8a - 430p (onsite)
Clearance: Able to obtain
Quality Control Specialist Responsibilities:
- Quality Assurance: Implement and maintain quality control systems and procedures to ensure compliance with aerospace industry regulations and standards (e.g., AS9100, ISO 9001).
- Inspection and Testing: Perform thorough inspections and tests of electromechanical components, parts, and systems to verify conformance to drawings, specifications and quality standards.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of inspections, tests, and quality control activities, including detailed documentation of non-conformances and corrective actions taken.
- Supplier Quality Management: Collaborate with suppliers to ensure the quality of incoming materials and components, conducting audits and source-inspections as necessary.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and participate in the implementation of corrective and preventive actions to enhance quality, efficiency, and reliability.
- Training and Development: Provide training and guidance to personnel involved in quality control activities, ensuring understanding and adherence to quality standards and procedures.
- Risk Assessment: Identify and assess risks related to quality control and develop strategies to mitigate them, ensuring the safety and reliability of aerospace products.
- Regulatory Compliance: Stay current with changes in industry regulations and standards, ensuring compliance and proactively implementing necessary adjustments.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience within the quality control of electromechanical parts and assemblies, including circuit boards, harnesses, small metal hardware, composite structures.
- Thorough understanding of aerospace regulations, standards, and quality management systems (e.g., AS9100, ISO 9001).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify root causes of quality issues and implement effective corrective actions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to upholding the highest standards of quality and safety in aerospace manufacturing.
- Six Sigma certification preferred.
- Familiarity with quality control tools and techniques (ex: statistical process control, failure mode and effects analysis) is a plus.
- Ability to travel domestically approximately 25% of the time.
