A law firm in Washington, DC, is seeking a highly qualified Tax Controversy Counsel to join their team. The ideal candidate will have extensive tax law experience, particularly in handling controversies and litigation related to audits and appeals. The role requires strong analytical skills, the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously, and excellent communication abilities to liaise effectively with clients and internal teams.Duties:Represent clients in tax controversies, including audits, administrative appeals, and litigation.Conduct thorough legal research and analysis on complex tax issues.Draft legal memoranda, pleadings, motions, and other legal documents.Provide strategic tax advice and counseling to clients.Manage and oversee all tax controversy matters from inception to resolution.Collaborate with attorneys and other professionals within the firm on multidisciplinary cases.Maintain up-to-date knowledge of tax laws, regulations, and trends.Ensure compliance with ethical standards and legal requirements in all client engagements.Requirements:Juris Doctorate (JD) and LLM in Taxation from accredited law schools.Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in tax controversy and litigation.Strong academic credentials and exemplary research and writing skills.Proven track record in handling tax audits, appeals, and litigation.Experience managing multiple complex matters concurrently.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Exceptional client service skills with the ability to build and maintain client relationships.Active license to practice law in Washington, DC.Preferred Skills:Experience with state and local tax controversies.Background in accounting or finance.Prior experience in a law firm environment.
