A law firm is seeking a qualified Tax Controversy Associate Attorney with 4-6 years of relevant experience to join its Washington, DC office. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in handling tax controversy matters, including audits, appeals, and tax litigation, along with a robust background in international tax law. This position offers the opportunity to work on complex and high-profile cases in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.Job Responsibilities:

Represent clients in tax controversy matters, including audits, administrative appeals, and litigation.Provide counsel on federal, state, and international tax disputes.Advise on tax implications of business transactions and strategies.Develop and implement tax controversy resolution strategies.Prepare and file petitions, briefs, and other legal documents related to tax disputes.Conduct in-depth legal research and draft memoranda and opinions.Communicate and negotiate with the IRS, state tax authorities, and other government agencies on behalf of clients.Work closely with clients to understand their business objectives and offer practical, strategic tax advice.Collaborate with partners and other associates on large, complex cases.Job Requirements:

4-6 years of relevant experience in tax controversy, including audits, appeals, and litigation.Significant international tax experience, particularly with cross-border tax issues and foreign tax credit matters.Licensed to practice law in Washington, DC.Proven track record in handling cases before the IRS and other tax authorities.Experience with U.S. Tax Court litigation is highly preferred.Education:

Juris Doctorate (JD) from an accredited law school.LLM in Taxation is required.Certifications:

Must be admitted to the Bar and licensed to practice law in Washington, DC.Skills and Competencies:

Strong research and writing skills, with a demonstrated ability to produce high-quality legal documents.Excellent analytical skills, with a keen attention to detail.Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective client interactions and negotiations.Ability to handle multiple, complex cases simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.Strong academic record, demonstrating a deep understanding of tax law.Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently when needed.
