In the U.S., Mattamy is represented in 11 markets – Charlotte, Dallas, Jacksonville, Naples, Orlando, Phoenix, Raleigh, Sarasota, Southeast Florida, Tampa and Tucson.What you’ll doReport to the General Counsel and assist in servicing the company’s corporate and real estate matters for all DivisionsRepresent Mattamy Homes legally in interactions with real estate and construction contractors, vendors and suppliersDraft, review and negotiate complex real estate contracts, trade partner agreements, land use agreements, easements, development agreements, joint development agreements and other agreements related to land use and developmentConduct and manage title and survey review for real estate transactions. Respond and negotiate with title underwriters and opposing parties’ attorneys regarding title objectionsDraft and manage Mattamy Homes’ Home Purchase Contracts and AddendaReview community development district, improvement district and special district bond financing documents and other agreementsReview and advise business leaders regarding environmental assessments and environmental lawAssist the General Counsel with (1) keeping the company compliant with all applicable laws and regulations, including privacy laws, (2) reviewing marketing collateral, (3) managing intellectual property rights, (4) managing the company’s various corporate entities, and (5) managing legal aspects of the company’s various licensesOther duties as assignedWhat you bringJ.D. degree from an accredited U.S. law school and an active license to practice law in FloridaMust be an active member of the FL or TX Bar AssociationsMinimum of 8 years’ experience in the practice of real estate, construction, land use and community association law at a top law firm with proven representation of homebuilders and/or land developers and/or large homebuilding and land development companyExcellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to collaborate, demonstrate diplomacy, and interact well with senior business and legal leadershipHighly disciplined with the ability to assess risk, and provide timely, strategic and practical legal advice in a fast-paced, dynamic environmentStrong drafting, negotiating and writing skills, including attention to detail, as well as the ability to solve problems in an efficient, business-friendly manner in time-pressured situationsAbility to identify and analyze complex issues and devise creative solutions and strategies for resolutionAbility to handle a high volume of work, prioritize appropriately, and work independently with minimal supervisionStrong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Teams, Excel and PowerPoint, Abode Pro, DocuSign and Litera CompareBe willing to travel upon request to various company offices and locations, if neededBonus pointsPrior in-house counsel experience preferredExperience on law school law review preferredBe yourself.
