Headquartered in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, Navarro has active programs in place across the nation for DOE/NNSA, NASA, and the Department of Defense.Reporting to the Environmental Safety Health & Quality (ESH&Q) Manager, this role involves providing technical expertise and leadership in the H&S organization and Navarro Program, focusing on health physics, safety, and health with expert knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and reporting requirements.GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:Under little to no supervision, provides expert skill and ability to perform highly advanced tasks.Broad knowledge of construction safety, drilling operations, electrical safety, driving safety, and the DOE Integrated Safety Management System.Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively.Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite software.Must be able to complete and maintain all training and qualifications required for the position.SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES AND KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy security clearance.Maintains current knowledge of Federal, State, and local laws, regulations, and ordinances pertaining to H&S.High level of responsibility, accountability, and impact on the contract or business area by managing project teams and/or deliverables for customers.Develops and implements inspection programs and procedures designed to ensure compliance with worker safety and health regulations.Demonstrated ability to manage, train, and mentor more junior staff.QUALIFICATIONS – EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:Bachelor's degree or higher in Occupational Safety and Health, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, or related field, and at least 15 years of experience.Must have 5 years of experience at a DOE facility.Must have previous management experience.Certification as CSP and/or CIH desirable.Must have or be able to obtain 29 CFR 1910.120 “HAZWOPER” 24/40-hour certification.WORKING CONDITIONS:Office:Office-related work includes data analysis, technical/scientific reporting, etc., relating to field characterization activities.Requires sitting for extended periods of time.Field:Fieldwork requires extended workdays as long as 15 hours; occasionally requiring periods of overnight stays.Must have or be able to qualify to wear respiratory protection.Field activity work involves standing, walking, and bending, lifting up to 60 lbs.Field operations are typically based at the Nevada National Security Site (60 miles NW of Las Vegas, Nevada).Due to the nature of the government contract requirements and/or clearance requirements, US citizenship is required.Navarro is an equal-opportunity employer.
