The term may be extended contingent upon available funding.Housing for Health (HFH) is a program office within Health Services Administration, a division under the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services (DHS). HFH was created in support of the Los Angeles County Homeless Initiative recommendations to combat homelessness in the County’s eight Service Planning Areas (SPAs). Our organization follows a hybrid work structure where employees work both remotely and from the office as needed.The County-wide Benefits Entitlement Services Team (CBEST) provides targeted benefit advocacy services to assist individuals who are homeless or at risk of being homeless in obtaining sustainable income through government programs such as Supplemental Security Income (SSI), Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI), Cash Assistance Program for Immigrants (CAPI), and/or Veteran Disability benefits.POSITION OVERVIEWThe Administrative Assistant II (referred to as “position”) is assigned to a time-limited special project within CBEST. The position will report to HFH supervisory, management, and/or executive leadership personnel. Responsibilities include providing programmatic, clerical, administrative, and client-based services to support the processing of clients' applications for SSI, SSDI, CAPI, and/or Veteran Disability benefits. The position may require frequent travel to meet with service providers and attend various meetings.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSDuties may include but are not limited to:Researching and evaluating federal, state, and County policies and benefits information to resolve complex claims.Conducting interviews with clients to screen for eligibility and collect necessary information for applications.Reviewing and analyzing medical records for application narratives.Managing the enrollment and exit process for CBEST clients.Processing and submitting completed applications and appeals for SSI/SSDI and CAPI.Communicating with clients and partners to resolve benefit claim issues.Utilizing HFH databases to track clients' assignments and update case notes.Assisting with data entry, reports, and documentation for HFH personnel.Using Microsoft Office Suite software programs for various tasks.Assisting with other duties/projects as assigned.JOB QUALIFICATIONSExcellent customer service skills.Strong organizational and communication skills.Ability to make thoughtful decisions and exercise sound judgment.Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite.EDUCATION/EXPERIENCETwo years of experience in a highly responsible secretarial capacity.Certificates/Licenses/ClearancesA valid California Class C Driver License.Successful clearance of health and live scan processes.PHYSICAL DEMANDSStand:
