The Play Group Theatre (PGT), a White Plains, NY based non-profit theatre for children and teenagers entering its 30th year, is currently seeking a part-time Technical Theatre/Theatre Design Teaching Artist for our Design/Tech program. PGT is a conservatory quality program for young actors and designers, producing 6 MainStage shows annually, in downtown White Plains, NY.We are seeking applicants with a BA/BFA (MA/MFA preferred) in technical theatre or equivalent experience. Applicants must possess a working knowledge of theatrical lighting, audio, basic carpentry skills and construction, and shop safety. Experience in an educational theatre setting and some basic facility in scenic design, and with props and costumes is required.We are seeking applicants who possess imagination, flexibility and the desire and ability to work with children and teenagers of varied ages in a creatively charged and artistically demanding, yet nurturing environment. Applicants must be prepared to work as a member of a strong creative team, and to work quickly towards the end goal, while still giving focus to the artistic process.RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

Working with the Design/Tech and production team to develop the Design/Tech curriculum for the season (October - January)Co-teaching weekly Design/Tech classes on Tuesday evenings, 6-8pmOverseeing Design/Tech students in the booth and/or backstage during MainStage tech week rehearsals and performances in December and JanuaryEnsuring a safe, clean, and organized scene shop and tech booth for studentsPGT’s Design/Tech program meets Tuesday evenings, 6-8pm. This season’s productions include tech rehearsals the week of December 1 and January 12. Performances are December 7, 8, 14, 15 and January 18, 19, 20, 25, 26.The Play Group Theatre has a core value of inclusion.
