Our employee-owned and integrated team of multi-discipline design, engineering, and surveying professionals has an opportunity available for a Survey Technician to join our team in Seattle and Kitsap County!In this position, you will work alongside a team of engineering professionals to provide surveying and construction management services to support a variety of projects ranging from utility rehabilitation to site development to transportation. Some of your responsibilities will include: assisting with preliminary site assessments, preparing survey plans, conducting field surveys (topographic, as-builts, and engineering design), overseeing construction staking (site layout, structures, grading, paving, roadways, and drainage features), migrating/converting point data to CAD files, performing survey calculations, preparing legal descriptions, and recording drawings and legal survey documentation.On occasion, you may also be responsible for assisting engineering and construction management staff with the oversight of construction operations to ensure activities are consistent with plans and specifications. While on-site, you may serve as an advisor/observer throughout the construction process by attending pre-construction and progress meetings, preparing status reports, identifying potential design/construction issues, and coordinating material testing.

Required Qualifications

Associate's degree in surveying, construction management, civil engineering technology, or related field.Good interpersonal skills and effective verbal and written communication skills; Ability to participate in contribute to discussions during plan reviews, progress meetings, project team meetings, and site observations.Two or more years of progressive experience conducting engineering, as-built, and topographic surveys for transportation, utility design, or similar infrastructure projects.Working knowledge of modern survey methods and survey devices, such as total stations, Global Positioning System (GPS) and data collectors.Demonstrated ability to accurately read and interpret engineering specifications and plans in accordance with surveying and construction operations.Ability to work outdoors year-round in all weather conditions, stand or walk for long periods (up to 12 hours per day), and carry up to 50 pounds of surveying equipment over rough and steep terrain.Ability to travel to client sites to conduct surveys, attend team meetings, and consult with clients.Must possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Advantageous Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in surveying, geospatial engineering, construction management, or related field.Certified Survey Technician (CST) or Land Surveyor in Training (LSIT) Certification.Previous experience or training with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Microstation Inroads, and/or ArcGIS.Previous experience with Leica GPS and Leica Robotics.Previous experience with Trimble GPS and Trimble Robotics.

$30 - $40 an hourUpon acceptance of a conditional offer of employment, the selected candidate will be required to complete a standard pre-employment background screening, which consists of Social Security verification, educational verification, review of criminal convictions, and driving history.Note:
